Just draw and develop your own style. I'm always weary of tutorials or of what I pick up from other peoples work. Draw and you will get better at drawing.

Loomis is good start. Later you should learn about colours and perspective. At this point you will know what you need to learn next or what do you need to improve.

You draw a circle then 2 smaller circles inside, paste lava lamps inside, you can skip the nose, is not canon. Then you make a slit, teethless and lipless, that should be enough for a mouth.
Then you think about something, can be anything, bottles, the sea, drills, flowers and use lots of it to make hair/hair-style.

The most important thing is practice, just like everything else in life.

If you plan on becoming a professional, it helps to use Loomis or whatever else to get your fundamentals down solid, but most people aren't that serious about drawing. If you just want to be able to occasionally draw for your own pleasure, just go do it.

I don't know anything about drawing but from all my years of lurking, I've gotten the impression that Loomis is the way to go. I think I even zomgpirated a few of his books and they were pretty good (unfortunately I can barely put pencil to paper, so drawing isn't for me).

Take some classes at college. Don't take art 101 or intro to general art classes because those are babby shits that won't teach you anything, just jump right into the slightly harder intro to drawing classes that will teach you linear perspective and drawing from life. Don't be afraid to take those classes more than once because those are important foundation skills you need to develop.

Just trace other people's images. Do it for years, over and over. Eventually you'll have the muscle memory to draw just about anything in any perspective. You'll basically work up a library of drawings you can steal/mentally copy-paste from and combine to pass off as your own drawings.

My bad, I didn't know what loomis was. I thought it was an anime tutorial. yeah, it's not a bad idea to study anatomy but I just learned from looking at actual humans. A lot of how to draw anatomy books are kinda fucked. I haven't read one that I'd recommend over just straight up looking at real people.

It doesn't really matter what style you approach with as long as you learn to understand the underlying basics and how they work. I'd say if you stick with Loomis too long (Yes. Loomis and too in the same sentence), it could potentially harm your growth.

And of course, keep trying to find reasons for all the PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, because it's what you are going to go through at your chosen pace.

I have a friend who did this over the years.
He's draws pretty decently on his own now. His lines are very clear and precise, seems tracing will do that to you at the very least.

I am pretty proud that I managed to do this even the fingers and hair especially were very hard to draw.
She has no eyes right now but I think I might try again tomorrow. I think I might have made her head a bit too tall or her hairline too short so the eyes look goofy wherever I try to put them.
Even though she has no eyes, I want to save this as my first achievement.
