Why is their world tilted 45 degrees?
To obfuscate the QUALITY?

I've never understood /jp/'s fascination with that picture.

It's to allow the character to take up more room in the frame. It's very common in (bad) eroge CGs.

I seriously don't understand this thread...

That makes sense. I'm not sure why they insist on making VNs on such low resolution though.

Then again, I've been here whole spring.

Well, it IS Japan. Have you seen what their average website looks like?

it's called Dutch angle, and it's a good idea. Diagonal is dynamic.

The same reason they still don't make anime in 1080p. Drawing, CGs and backgrounds in high resolution being expensive is one of the reasons.

But still, most recent VNs are in 1280x720. Little Busters is in 4:3 because it's not as recent.

Maybe to hide how her eyes are nearly the size of the burger.

Horrifying.

>Diagonal is dynamic.
That. It emphasizes the CG and makes it more interesting. They want to get the most impact out of every CG they put in since there aren't all that many of them in most VNs.

I'm glad KS was 800x600. I love having to use xrandr to set my screen size to 1024x768 and mess with my monitor's aspect ratio just so it's playable.

Well you may be right about the recent VN, the only ones that come to mind is MLA and 美少女万華鏡, which is a nukige, so I don't assume that to be the standard

Why does my nationality keep popping up when I least expect it? Anyway I suppose you have a point. It's a change, anyway.

I know what a Dutch angle is, but my point is that they're often overused in eroge, and used without purpose. Dutch angles invoke a sense of tension or uneasiness in the viewer. If it's supposed to be a calm or cute scene, you don't want to use a Dutch angle.

>>8384248
MLA is nearly 6 years old, so it's far from recent. And is in the bizzaro age standard resolution of 1024x600.

And honestly, I find most VNs with a decent budget in 1024x768 or 1280x720 now, but I've still run across plenty of 800x600 new ones.

I see, thanks for clearing that up. It's at least higher than what I assumed.
