Writers who write in their own native language still needs editors. It's because everyone makes mistakes, and everyone naturally assumes everyone makes them.
It's also easier for a thrid party to find your flaws than you spotting them yourself, perspective, old habits or whatnot. You more easily miss the stain on your shirt than the stain on your friend's.

People who aren't good at translating have a penchant for keeping weird sentence structure, as it doesn't feel that unnatural to them since they're acquainted with the source language and how it works. Editors mostly don't have this problem

Apparently Umineko took a lot of ideas from it. It's like Umineko but with Fairy Tales instead of murder mystery, which sounds like a winning formula to me.

I disagree that Sharnoth was boring or slow paced, but it was still bad. In fact, it was too high paced near the end and turned into some pointless rushed waste of time. They should've spent more time on the themes rather than wasting time on people like Angie just to make it more marketable.
