>>8336327
>RAM disks and caching

Caching doesn't stop the hit from the first time you read the data. For movies and similar things, this doesn't help at all, and those are the only things (that a home user will deal with) so large that you couldn't keep them entirely cached in RAM with much less than that.

As for RAM disks -- okay, that's an actual reason. (I assume you have some application that would benefit from it, which most people don't. Perhaps you're running a web-facing database of some kind.) That, and if you want to run a bunch of virtual machines.

That dell is on special, and the parts just so happened to match up this time.

Plus, it looks like you actually can tell them what to put in the dell. When you can do that, yeah, it's generally not much more expensive, because you really just pay a bit for labor, they don't really mark up anything. But if you buy a PC with pre-defined parts, they'll mark everything way the fuck up and choose a price that looks neat and tidy to a normal. like $999.

Because presumably you only have that money from doing something yourself.

If you earn more on average from whatever it is you do so that you don't actually save any money from building a PC because the time you spent doing it would have been better compensated by your job, then go ahead and pay for it. The cheapest you can get food will be from just eating grains, basically pure energy, with little to not protein and no essential fatty acids/micronutrients. If you take a multivitamin you can take care of two of those, but you will still be pretty shit protein-wise. Dude here, it takes about 10 minutes to chop it up stick in in the freezer, 2 minutes to put it in freezer bags, 10 minutes to peel vegetables. The parts that I use for soup I stick in a pot with carrots and other vegetables, salts etc... that cooks for about 3~4 hours, less if you use express pots but I like it slow it has better taste, while this is happening you have free time go play battlefield or something.

After that when the soup is finished you have cooked chiken meat to eat, plus vegetables, you can eat if with some sauce. You take the soup and pour it into a separate pot and filter it. That takes about 5~10 minutes.

Later to make egg+corn meal pastry it thats like 5 minutes, the dough that you grind thats like more thats like 10~15 minutes + it has to dry.

So all in all you prepared soup for a whole week ( like 5 liters) in about 30 minutes of work + 4 hours of cooking. You made the pastry for the said soup in less then 10 minutes.

Are you really taking that post seriously?

Though, you faggots that get money for having social anxiety or whatever really are worthless, and should be used for something. There's a big difference between having a terminal, debilitating illness that requires state-aid, and being a whiny pussy who is afraid to go outside.

If you don't plan to live without working then get out of /jp/.

>Plan to save for your future kids?
How the fuck did you get to that conclusion, of course not.

Yeah same as music. I admit that when computers had 256MB of RAM you couldn't add more than 10 VSTs in the DAW without it crashing, but now that I have 4GB I could add 50 VSTs and it will work, and I never need that much even.
