I still use mine, but I also have two LCDs. I use my CRT to gain an advantage in especially competitive games, though I play most other games on it too. The LCDs are mostly there for 1080p movies and anime, another one for just IRC.

LCDs are terrible we would have had the proper CRT successor SED but some dick company with the rights to it could not come to agreement.
Anyways PLASMA>LCD but the corporations kept pushing LCD because it was cheaper false, bullshit was spread that PLASMAs were very prone to burn ins and LCDs were immune funny enough early LCDs did infact burn in. And here we are today LCDs dominate the market but PLASMA which does not suffer from screen burn in, is pretty much lagless and offer great colours is overshadowed of the LCD:

I remember when they sold after-market radiation screens as well. They were held on with velcro stickers, and used computer monitors would alays have discolored spots on top from where the velcro was. (I knew a lot of poorfags in college who bought used monitors/computers).

This is why I kept my old 32" CRT. It weights like 1200 pounds, but old N64 games just feel right. My last-gen devices like the PS2 and Wii also live on that old tv (480p used to look so good back in the day).

Like any sane person, I use LED and LCD televisions for playstation triple and 360, and the media PCs.

The only TV I own that I want to get ride of is the nasty old sony wega DLP 42". Piece of shit 1080i, with a single DVI input.

I liked my IBM P275 so much that after it died I hunted down another one.

So the game doesn't take up the entire screen and eliminate the whole reason I put it in windowed mode. If it's 1600x1200 windowed mode and I resize it the game looks like shit, so I simply set it at a lower resolution like you're supposed to.

Also, pretty much every VN/eroge I play is defaulted to windowed mode at a lower resolution.

LCD monitor resolutions do not blur at anything other than native if the aspect ratio is maintained.

If you're playing 640x480 games on a 16:9 monitor and there are no letterboxes, then you have shitty settings enabled.

Let me oversimplify LCD technology: you have a light behind the pixels, and to make black, you have to block that light with liquid crystal shutters. The first problem is that liquid crystals allow some light through, even when they are completely turned off.

The second problem is that these shutters have a structure around them to hold them there, so a lot of the light from the backlight is wasted, which means the backlight has to be extremely bright - so bright that you could light your entire house with the light that backlight emits.

For these reasons, no matter what, LCDs can never approach the black levels of a CRT.

IPS monitors have been particularly expensive because the structure of the shutters required that the backlight be much brighter than other LCD panel types. The brighter the backlight, the more expensive it is. The new e-IPS technology (of which there is currently only one example, the Dell 2209WA) uses a new shutter structure that allows a much dimmer backlight, which makes the monitor much cheaper.
