A couple of good scenes in each route doesn't change the fact that there are too many cooking scenes and shonenshit fight sequences, that all of the "conversations" are infodumps and read like they were obviously written by someone who's never gone out and talked to another human being in his life, and that the only character that gets any exploration or development is Shirou. Even by the low standards of VNs, FSN is nothing particularly special and doesn't deserve most of the praise it gets.

I truly do believe many actually liked the cooking scenes, I know I did. I know I did. I mean, just how would one be expected to read through all of that if one didn't like that? It's the people who were fooled to believe that F/SN would be some action story with people of legend duking it out against eachother in a magical war, that usually ends up disappointed, given how that was merely a false premise.

Really? Individually of each route, the fights can be counted on one hand, and the fights of the entire novel could almost be counted with the help of the other hand.


F/SN was a "concept fest" with lots of ideals and moral cakes on top of it. But it's still slice of life, and it is no action story, rather, as stated, a concept fest with slice of life and action elements.
If you claim it is anything else, people expecting a fantasy action story could very well be disappointed, because it would only be a half-truth.
