I prefer the keyboard. I've tried using a gamepad, but I find that using 4 fingers in unison is more responsive than just my thumb.

I play with a gamepad because it's easier to focus. I use the directional pad instead of thumbsticks though.

It's easier to focus by holding down a shoulder button. I don't know if the game is any easier though as I've only beaten touhous with a keyboard. It makes StB, DS, and FW easier for sure though.

I use the Dualshock 3 Dpad, it's easy to twitch and doesn't have 3-key rollover. Please don't recommend keyboards, I won't buy a new one just for Touhou.

Save your autism for someone who actually does so, Anon; a specific, proper tool is best for certain genres. You can get your panties in a bunch when I start using a controller to play an FPS or RTS. Controllers and gamepads are simply the superior input methods when dealing with danmaku and fighting games. I prefer controllers, though

As in, you push the stick far to a corner, and it is able to be pushed a bit further, lifting it up by the actuator from the restrict or plate.
Feels pretty annoying. This is on a new stick too. (LS-32-02)

Doesn't really occur on my old LS-32 supergun sticks, and is non-existent on my JLFs.

Most of the soku inputs are quarter circle and dragon punch motions. They're really easy to do on a keyboard. Now, if I had to do a 360 or 28 or down up motions, then I would need something other than keyboard.
