Do they sell 150x50cm pillows anywhere in the States? Target, maybe? Walmart?

Looking online has not gone well for me. HobbyHeart, eBay, etc. all have them for pretty reasonable prices but then have this fifty dollar shipping free from Hong Kong or wherever. I'm not exactly rich and this is becoming a problem. Not to mention I feel silly paying over sixty bucks for a pillow.

Please help me out, /jp/. I don't know who else to ask.

>> No.8271754

I have never found a properly-fitted dakimakura body stateside.

I'm pretty sure you can get better shipping than $50, though. Last time I looked there was a place on eBay that sold 'em pretty cheap.

Wait, are the body pillows they sell at Walmart too small or something?

>> No.8271756

Ah,I've found one at walmart for a pretty low price, about 20~ or so usd. I dont have a dakimakura/cover, but having a body pillow is nice. I think it would work for a daki, the body pillow might be slightly smaller however. Not much, but maybe 10 cm smaller? I believe. I'm not able to measure at the moment, or i'd give you a more concrete answer. Mine came with a blue plaid cover that I can take off, so I'm sure you could put it in a daki no problem.

If you could fish out any old links to those eBay pages I would be extremely grateful and maybe even touch your penis.

And maybe a bit thinner, too, now that I think about it. Maybe about 10 cm less wide, as well. I think it'd work in a pinch though. Local furniture/ bedding stores may have what you need too, but you'd have to talk to people that way.

Walmart fits fine, or mine does. My Bed, Bath and Beyond actually split in half after a 6 months of intensive cuddling

The normal american-sized pillows are too small, but I recently found a place that makes pillows to custom dimensions:

http://www.unitedpillow.com/products/Custom_Polyester_Inserts_w_Woven_170_Thread_Count_Poly_Cotton_O
utside_Fabric-1706-950.html

I got a 62"x21" w/ cluster fiber fill, for $34 shipped, and it fits 150x50 pillow cases pretty much perfectly.

>>8271779

Ahhh thank you. I think you might have just saved my ass here. What does the cluster fiber feel like?

>> No.8271836

http://www.walmart.com/ip/200-Thread-Count-Body-Pillow-20-x-54/11003418 6 inches short, but affordable. It is wide enough.

http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Down-Fiber-Body-Pillow/dp/B000J4MIF2 another one, slightly short, but wide enough.

http://www.amazon.com/Polyester-Fill-Body-Pillow-Size/dp/B0029XZBE6/ Proper size, but a bit expensive.

Most american or western body pillows seem to be the 54x20 inch, which while wide enough, isnt quite long enough. the other things will likely have expensive shipping and whatnot. I hope this helps,at least a little bit.

>> No.8271852

>>8271814
It's very soft and but keeps shape well. Supposedly it's more resistant to flatting out in any specific areas, since the fiber clusters can shift around.

Size isn't the only issue.
The cheap ones have hardly any stuffing; they're like hugging air.
If you want something with heft that gives an illusion closer to hugging a human body, you're not going to get it from a $20 pillow in the U.S.
I recommend bighting the bullet and ordering an A&J Feel Smooth. AmiAmi, Playmoya, and Hobby Search carry them. Plamoya seems to have slightly cheaper shipping on these than AmiAmi, dunno for Hobby Search. (Don't bother with SAL--it will cost more than EMS.)

Just buying any random Japanese pillow isn't necessarily going to be good, either. (See pic)
Depends on what you want. I used a Shin Magical Sweet for a year before trying A&J and now I'd never go back to the SMS.

Of course some people prefer the lighter and less firm pillows so YMMV.
http://blog.livedoor.jp/itabeya/archives/51537150.html The blog I took that pic from, the guy says he thinks A&J's feel more like a cushion than a pillow and while it looks prettier due to holding it's shape better, he says (a) A&J takes more muscle exertion to hug and (b) because A&J's firmly hold their shape, it doesn't sag down/flatten out when placed on its narrow side, and instead falls back down on one of the two flat sides, which means you can't plop it on it's side to be face-to-face side-by-side sleeping without a wall or more pillows or something behind it to hold it up.

I don't really agree with (a), and (b) hasn't been an issue for me, but I guess they're worth keeping in mind.
(He got an A&J Severis, not a Feel Smooth, but as far as I can tell that just means it has antibacterial coating and the firmness/stuffing is the same as the Feel Smooth.)

I got one from hobbyheart too, took three days. Ships from inside the states, and the pillows are made by an american company. That said, they go really flat really quickly, and are kind of noisy.

Bedbathandbeyond's is much smaller but held up better.

Still have not found an ideal pillow.

This drives me nuts with the COSPA ones. They're almost unusable imo and they don't even completely fit half of my covers. I'd say avoid if you're looking at importing.

>>8274529

I don't know if I just got a good one but my COSPA one I got from AmiAmi actually fills up my 160x50 daki quite well, the problem with flat pillows I had were with those Chinese import ones and I never got an American made one since I'd like the proper dimensions. I do plan on getting an A&J one though for comparison soon.

>> No.8274615

>>8274557
The cospa pillow is good. Overpriced is anything but good.

>> No.8274623

>>8274544
You mean something that's heavy-ish but not firm? Like it doesn't push back as much?
I'm actually not sure what to recommend for that (unless you want to try a powder-beads pillow).
I'd guess getting one that uses just polyester and no silicon might be good but those seem harder to find. (A&J, Cospa, and Magical Sweet all use silicon.) Not sure what effect that might have on it going flat.

Just looking at photos, Cospa looks similar to my Shin Magical Sweet but for some reason I see Cospa almost universally dismissed as "bad" in 2ch dakimakura threads, while Shin Magical Sweet has a moderately good reputation. I don't have any Cospa for comparison, though.
I think maybe SMS simply doesn't have as many people buying them as Cospa, so less random people to complain. (SMS costs about the same as A&J, while Cospa's less expensive.)

The SMS is a little unusual with it's nylon outer layer; it's like a gigantic stocking. One problem I have with it is the lengthwise seams slipping ("rotating" around the pillow body). I dunno if the nylon design is to blame for that.

The SMS I've had for over a year, but the A&J's I've only been using for a couple of months so I'm not sure yet how they hold up over time.

Took a couple of pictures of the pillow I mentioned earlier: >>8271779

As can see it's fairly thick, and does a good job of filling out the pillow case, which is 150x50cm. I have it propped up on my couch here, but it's thick enough to stand on it's side by itself.

>> No.8274689

>>8274661
looks pretty good
At that price I may just buy one and see how it compares to A&J. Not much of a loss even if I don't like it.

I wonder if you can specify variant stuffing amounts.
Like if I ordered one and decided it wasn't firm enough, if I could order a second one but with "20% more stuffing."
I always see people on 2ch talking about ordering custom pillows from www.p80.co.jp requesting 20-30% extra stuffing.

>> No.8274727

>>8274698
What are the differences between those filling options?

>> No.8274812

>>8274606
The Cospa and other official covers fit fine but I have a couple doujin make and the feet completely clip off.

It's not like the length is the problem. I measured it, they're still 150cm. The Cospa pillows just don't fill them enough and there's just so much slack it's practically unusable. I'm using a small cushion for the time being but it's not what I wanted for paying out of the ass for a pillow that should be at least 1/2 the price of what it is.

>> No.8274855

>>8274812
Well the dimension problem I was mentioning only applied to the ones you'd find at Bed Bath and Beyond and such, which is why I'd never go for them. Anyways as I said, the Cospa one I have is fine in terms of filling, the one that wasn't is the one I ordered off Janelee.

>> No.8274880

>>8274812
>>8274855
Also to add to that, I didn't mean to say Cospa's covers per say except for perhaps that the pillows fit the covers well. Anyways I don't have any complaints about my Cospa pillow's filling or any other area is basically what I'm saying. I'll be ordering an A&J one soon though, so that might change, who knows.
