It's fun for an MMORPG, but it's still an MMORPG. I'd say ranged DPS is the least active class, and can be boiled down to hitting your F# keys after cooldown times from a safe distance away (but I still love my archer).

As a healer, tank, or DPS class though, it's at least fairly interesting fighting elites. Some of them are really quick, and healers happen to build a lot of aggro, so they often times have an interesting fight.

Well, the specs aren't all that much, but they're probably too much for that. I managed to run it okay on a laptop with a core 2 duo @ 2.4 GHz and a GT 120m (integrated RAMDAC). The graphics card literally died though, so I had to buy a new computer. The screenshot there is taken with the new computer, coincidentally.

I'm amused by the amount of attention Sudo gets when he makes even one post. In fact, I'm almost jealous of his privileged [?] position.

Tera player from before here to provide some insight. Soloing a Basilisk (or any elite in general) is really hard. That's some impressive gameplay in that video, if it wasn't obvious already. Also, elites like that are pretty common. I'd say one of every five side quests tasks you with killing a few big monsters just like that one. The game recommends that you take them out in a party of 5, but frankly, they become really easy and tedious to kill with that many people, so I personally recommend sticking to smaller parties of 2 or 3. You'll need 4 or 5 for instanced dungeons though.

I've tried soloing those same Basilisks with an archer, sorcerer, and warrior, and couldn't handle it.

Another thing I love are the constant updates, and there is never a month without at least event going on which is rewarded with decent equip most of the time which is nice for people who dont want to spend real money.
This game depends on real money alot, it's basicly pay to win.
But over the years I managed to aquire shitloads of cash shop equip and became one of the strongest without spending a single dollar.

No, but I played back on the dreamcast, and I have a current active 130 character on the SCHTHACK server for PSO:BB.

It is a simple game, the only complex things are feeding mags, and even that is just a tedium more than anything else.
I honestly feel pretty good about this, I see only improvement when I look at PSO2. I don't feel that way often.

This. Too bad they killed it with Abyssea, the level cap increase, and the subsequent lack of new content. Fast progression without content coming just as fast to keep players busy makes for a dull game. After all the ups and downs, since Spring 2004 I only just quit back in September this year because I just ran out of stuff to do.

I only intended to take a break but I ended up not trying to log on for almost a year. I found out a "friend" had sold my account. An almost completely geared character gone; after that I said fuck it and never looked back.
I still miss it.

I was disappointed that they made leveling and other things easier. I liked that it took so long to get a class to max level, kept the casual players away.

I have to agree, as someone who played the GC version and has a couple 150+ characters in psobb, plus played PSU at launch until it pretty much died.

I really liked the gameplay of PSU, just the first release and the eventual grind got very boring, even for a normal mmo standards, let alone an action mmo.
I did love that it finally let me play a Newman Ranger/GT/WT, even if I did end up settling on a newman Fighgunner until the hax classes came out.

But nowdays? Gameplay wise PSP2i blows PSOBB out of the water. PSOBB is more enjoyable to grind in because you feel like rares are actually worth something, but to actually play there is no comparison.
