Man. I remember that one World Cup where Brazil beat England. My secondary school put it on the projectors and like the whole school went early and crammed into the main hall. When we lost people started crying and getting really pissed off and breaking things.
Why do people care about football¹ so much?

But hey. It could be worse.

over here people seem to care more about soccer/football/whateveryoucallit than education and politics.
no wonder our situation is so shitty.

not to mention that those stupid (and ugly) ball-kickers gain around a million dollars per month while a scientist or medic or a cop gains a lot lot less.

AND they seem to like to sell to foreign countries the image that we're all a bunch of stupid-ugly ball-kickers.

Srsly now: I'm brazilian, but I don't HUE HUE HUE GIBE MONI PLOX. In fact, I avoid even mentioning I'm brazilian in online games because the huge (and deserved) flak my countrymen get.

I happen to like Touhou (original secondary who then moved into the games, etc) and so I decided to hang in here. It's always hilarious to see a BR-related thread, however.

São Paulo (the state) is a rather large place. The litoral (Guarujá) is kind of meh as far as beach vacations go. São Paulo (the city) is ALSO fucking huge. There are lots of urban based tourism to do there (museums, classical buildings and such) AND the food there is wonderful. Bairro da Liberdade is the place to see /jp/ happening in RL: japanese (and chinese, and korean) people going on their lives while otaku wear cosplay, say broken japanese and do their best to act retarded in public. Maybe isnt's like THIS the whole year and the fact that I was there during the days of a local Anime Con had something to do with it. You can buy original manga at Fonomag at Liberdade too. Google details for all these.

I think brazilians in this board is more common than we think.
Brazil has the largest japanese population outside of Japan(due to immigration) and is heavy influenced by it in several regions, including São Paulo(the state).
In the city of São Paulo is located the "Bairro da Liberdade", where you can find alot of japaneses food and products(melon pan, imported manga directly from Japan, karaoke houses and so on).
Pic related, it's the japanese imiigration propaganda...

It IS worse. If you study any pure science in Brasil, you're granting yourself a whole life of unemployment. Medics are only well paid because they usualy get two jobs, one of them being working on a private company, and the second as a State's ghost employee, since working on public sections won't give you any credit at all.

Now being a cop? That's crazy talk. All the money received by cops come not from our country, but from Drug dealers' bribes, and that happens not only in Rio as one might think, but in all our territory.

Now, if there's anyone planning on coming here for the Cup although I doubt it because of this board's nature, my only advice is to keep restricted to the zone esclusively destined to tourists, as such places will be safe. No guarantee for the well being of adventurers though.

Bullshit. 'Liberdade' has much more chinese and bolivians than japanese in the present. Plus, even though you see a lot of japanese in Sao Paulo, most of'em are already blended with brazilian culture, and the few traditional families left are farmers on the countryside.
