Secondly, I fucking hate them. But I cannot pretend they're anything short of gods among touhoes. It's as much of a canon fact as anything in this series is.

Or, you know, watching some of them treat all the others as complete jokes and casually solo them in a shitty canon work written by ZUN.

They assembled some of the best and brightest of Gensokyo and they couldn't do SHIT to the Watatsukis. I think they managed to mildly startle one of them through some contrived scheme and that was the whole extent of it.

I see no proof other than general Japanese mythology.

It's simple wordplay, Amaterasu is known in Gensokyo, therefore, he falls under the gods of Gensokyo category (by the way, the Gensokyo gods are the same 8 million Japanese gods, there's no change in the culture since Gensokyo was part of the visible Japan before), since Akyuu mentions that the Dragon (who was made up by ZUN) is the highest-order god, we can infer that he's the big boss from all of the 8 million deities.

Sure the dragon god is the highest order of gods in Gensokyo, but that does not mean it is more powerful than the other characters. There is nothing to indicate that the dragon god can beat Yukari, Reimu or any of the other characters.
Just like how Tenshi lost to Suika, even though celestials outrank oni.
Or how not all oni are as strong as Yukari, but oni in general outrank youkai. Same case with oni and tengu.
Plus, Reimu has a skill called Omnidirectional Dragon Slaying Circle in Imperishable Night.

Indeed, that is probably the strongest god in Japanese mythology.
Unfortunately that summon only knocked Remilia out for a short time, so short that she was already awake by the time Reimu faces Yorihime.
