When I was in school I'd hop on a different bus every day, go to a different town, and camp out in its library until the afternoon. I learned so much useless knowledge this way; it's a shame I didn't spend it studying for my actual classes.

Some months ago I used to do the same, tell my dad "hey I got an interview, what do you think, should I go?", then go to a park not very far, look for a spot near a big tree to avoid the sun, and play Disgaea 1 in my PSP.

I was thinking I could buy a cheap one of these and then park in a forest or something. Get internet through satellite, no apartment rent because I live in a car, and survive off canned foods indefinitely.

I'm not a NEET, but I scheduled my college classes so that I have 8 hours between them 3 days out of the week and 4 on the other too. I put 4 of those sunblocker things up and park in an forgotten parking lot behind one of the dorms. I do lots of things, like watch anime, read VNs, read manga, sleep, and study Japanese. It's actually pretty fun, even though there is no wifi signal there.

The only problem is temperature. During the winter I melt wax, mixed it with zippo lighter fluid and isopropyl alcohol so I could burn it as a quick heater, far bigger than any candle. Summer has no fix though, other than running a fan off my AC adapter and periodically starting the engine.

I did this at home one time. pretending to go to work for weeks.
Then I moved out. And pretended to do this to my flatmate.

In the end you are just wasting your own time. If you have a computer and you are somewhat smart you can learn to make money from the internet (websites/development) etc.

You might like the life of a neet but sooner or later you will come to the realisation that the world is all around you and you cant shut it out by staying locked up in your room.

To enjoy your anime/manga/figma/games/vns etc you need to go out into the world and beat it back a little every day. that is the only way you will preserve the heaven that is the 4 walls of your room.

As I type this I am 30 years old and I have been a neet since I was 22. I wasted 8 years of my life trying to protect my pride. I cant get those years back but maybe I can at least stop someone else from wasting them.

No, I only do it so I can avoid other student and my family. I wouldn't like to actually live out of my truck. It's uncomfortable to sleep in, there is no restroom, gasoline is too expensive, if I want to cook something I have to leave.... I tried it once when I was a kid in high school. My parents asked me to go look at a university and gave me money for a hotel, but hotels don't take cash without a credit card in case you burn the place down, apparently, so I kept the money and slept for three nights in my truck in a park. It wasn't very fun.
