When I had fewer images I'd just go by memorizing where they were in a folder, or category folders if there were enough. Before I realized my memory was starting to fail because of how many there were. There were FAR too many to put in to folders, let alone name.

I never end up regretting it that much. Sure, it takes some time to build up the collection again, but if my previous collection has gotten to the point where I felt I had to just delete it, it was most likely too big to miss any particular pictures.

Not him, but I did it after I realized I was spending hours saving and attempting to sort, but pretty much no time actually fapping to the pictures. And I told myself that if I ever needed to fap, I should just play nukige instead.

Later that night, I went to pixiv and fapped to a specific pic, and when I woke up the next morning, I couldn't get that picture off my mind and I knew I just had to have it. So I took a compromise, I could save one picture per fap session. Which led to making a queue of pictures I would save when I had a fap session to spare. Which led to just saving pictures whenever I wanted, but trying to only pick pics of really high quality. And before I knew it, my folder was bigger than the one I deleted in the first place.

Why is it so hard to practice moderation when collecting?

50,000 since 2008, when I got the bandwidth and hard disk to start archiving all those magical pictures I found. I save about 300-400 a week to a single folder and then sort them out to the main folder every couple of weeks or so. I really regret not doing this sooner. I can't imagine how many pictures I have lost that were really good. Live and learn I guess.

I've been trying to organize my H-Manga collection lately actually, and this is the system I came up with, focused on artist/circle first.

It still sucks major balls though, I can't tell the genre with this system so if I'm in the mood for, say, loli incest, I'd better know which circle/author does that sort of stuff. I'd love to have a tag system for manga with specific subdivisions, like genre, language, author, circle, series, date, rating, etc. Like the IDD mp3 files have.

I've tried some software to emulate this sort of stuff but none were really aimed for what I wanted.
