Haha, oh wow - the NPC opponents are such cheating motherfuckers, I get first attack maybe one time in five.
Other than that, cards are actually cute, and the mechanics are simple enough to be entertaining.

I want to to play this game since it's a card game and I've been looking for a new one to play since my PSP died and no more Tag Force.

It is incredibly rare to find a card game after a couple of years where the newly released cards don't completely outshine the original cards. Heck in some cases it's a matter of a couple of months. Although since it's online only, it'll probably be pretty bad.

Played for 10h or so. Pretty amusing shit, but there is a number of problems:
-it is fucking slow. I can understand standard speed in PvP to synch the moment you can pick cards and stuff, but there must be a way to turn off animations in PvE battles;
-it is way too grindy, you can see almost right away that you are going to grind forever for shit like leveling your cards or crafting and shit.

Well, I can only talk for me, but the reason I find CCGs fun is that I can build exotic combos with my favorite cards, and watch as my crazy strategies unfold and a clueless opponent loses. This needs more cards for that to be possible here. The point is, not only winning is fun, or at least not only winning all battles. There's a special flavor when you beat the flavor of the month deck with underpowered and underused cards.

In a way the Korean's based this entire card game on the chaos orb mechanics. Every buff, every bolt spell, every minion attack... 100% random target (unless it specifically targets a card slot). I've seen some cards that can turn the tide, but only if luck is on your side and they actually target the card you need them to target.

I'll give it a chance, but this feels very unnatural for me as a former CCG player. I love the deck construction and the artwork but when it comes to combat I feel like a spectator.

For those of you who play a lot of other CCG games, how does the gameplay stack up? The only place I can find randomness acceptable if there's so much of it that statistically everything evens out or if you can control the effect of the randomness (random draws, the lifeblood of CCGs, do both,) or if you have a system without any at all.

I'm at about 75% win ratio, with most losses being before recent deck edits. Matches are long enough that the tide can and does turn more than once, but I won't tell you that you won't get fucked by the RNG a few times.

No they aren't. If it says something like "2 followers get this buff" and you only have one or two on the field then you can predict who is going to get buffs. If it says "cards with maid/whatever" in the name get this buff and you have one on the field, guess who is going to get the buff. Debuffs depend on the amount of cards the enemy has played too but you can guess how many they may have from the size of the played cards.

Well, that said, the game just got too boring for me in the end. I was so close to finally getting my favorite Panther and Tiger too. I'm also sporting a fully upgraded DB, graciously supported by a money making Hummel, but it dawned to me - what then? the Panther II? Try buying more cards and using them to craft late game vampire units. the point of the vampire deck is to get cheap ones (size 1 2 or 3) with high attack and stamina and fuse them using the vampiric rites card.

You need to fix up your vampire deck a bit to be honest. If you just grab the other decks and take all their size 1s, then go the Lion/Sion combo + vampiric rites, you can have yourself some 20/2/30 or so beatstick that will continue to beat on your opponents.

I went to the Witch Tower dungeon, first level, and clicked explore, and got paired with a player. I didn't even notice at first, just thought it was weird that NPC would be using eyepatch girl, looked at the name, and it was obvious player name. When I lost I went back to the first level of the dungeon, so it's not like I spaced out and clicked fight or something.
Only time it happened to me in 80 or so fights over 2 accounts.

Once she gets to 100 LIKE, she will change into the form corresponding to her highest stat (WIS/SENS/PERS/GLAM).

You can check form effects on the wiki and spreadsheet.
Spreadsheet also has lots of info about what stats different cards and items raise or decrease.

Is there a trick to the order of execution of spells?

Say I want to use "She did it" on my size 5 boss maid. Turn into into a size 1, and turn some shit minion who is near death into a size 7.

I want to combo that with the sacrifice the highest size card and gain double that life.

When I tried that combo it triggered in reverse order, killing my boss maid before the size swap.

Does it process as "first in, last out" like most other CCGs. or are spell effects activated 100% randomly, just like everything else in this game?

I'm still only like an hour into this, but it looks like spells activate in order of placement, and one spell activates per turn. So if you have a spell in the II slot and one in the IV slot, the II spell will activate, then your enemy attacks, then the IV spell activates.
