Model?

It'd be nice to hear from some danmaku players that use joysticks/pads

Who stocks up on keyboards?

I use my Filco, but I type on it more than I game with it.

Are Saturn pads really that good? I never seriously played shmups on consoles in the past before starting with Touhou, so I have nothing to compare them with.

>> No.8192645

>>8192625

Pretty much the best pad for 2D games, arcade sticks are better though.

>> No.8194319

I want to buy some kind of arcade pad like in OP's pic for Touhou.

Any suggestions? How would the SFIV pads fare for danmaku?

>> No.8194325

I use the Dualshock D-Pad.

>> No.8194342

I tried fixing my broken stick earlier today, turns out just twisting and taping the metal together doesn't do anything (or I fucked up). Now I have to fuck around with a soldering iron which I am mildly afraid of.

Which switches do you have? I have Blues in full 108 key format. For Christmas I've asked for a tenkeyless brown.

>> No.8194426

Why is the stick on the left side on gamepads? Isn't it much easier for righties to use their right hand to control their character?

They are pretty much identical to the ones used in arcades they are pretty amazing for Fighting games, Touhou, Emulators or any arcade game in general.

Solid and dependable, although the joystick does get a little loose after awhile.

Been using this for about...2 years?

Xbox 360 controller for PC. You'd be surprised how good it works with wine. In fact I'd say it's pretty suitable for all pc-gaming, except those with a shit-ton of macros [mmorpgs, namely. But those types are just begging for keyboard and mouse. Although controllers can work to an extent on those, you might find yourself with a less number of skill keys.]

Saturn pad is the best~
I wish joysticks weren't so pricey.

I use two keyboards simutaneously, I keep a paperweight on another so I can shoot constantly and i just use the other to tap in movements

PS3 controller. I'm not noticeably better with it over my keyboard, but I guess it just feels better with a controller and I don't own any other kind.

>> No.8197968

>>8197958
I've never gotten used to the slimness of the dualshock 3 controllers, I guess I just need a bit more meat on mine. But I know Logitech made some pretty nice ps2 controllers back in the day that were chunky enough to feel just right. Of course N64 and Gamecube never had a slim issue.

>> No.8198092

>>8197968
I'm too poor for the dualshock (mine has no vibration), though I agree, the SIXAXIS or whatever they are calling the typical controller now is so light.
I don't necessarily need it to be physically larger but I would like some heft to it.

On another note, I prefer the "fat" PSPs over the newer slimmer models for the same reason.
