The development and phase-in of the F-22 was an enormous waste of resources.

The F-22's main selling point is its passive stealth. And that could be zeroed-out tomorrow by advances in detection tech.

The F-14D, on the other hand, sported superior range and maneuverability, with comparable top speed and weapon compatibility.
