I got a question. Lets say I wanted a good quality custom anime figurine commissioned. How much would this cost? Pic unrelated.

I would probably do it for a grand, depending on size and detail, but copyrights would fuck me in the ass hard.

You're looking at 3-4 million for the raw materials, 4-5 for the labor, an extra 1-2 million if you want it painted

Plus shipping, I'd say you were looking at a minimum of 14 million dollars. Depending on the economy of course.

A friend of mine tried this about 5 years ago. The sculpt alone was around $800 (unpainted) for a 1/6, and the creator had the right to sell it as a GK kit afterwards (so it would not be exclusive).

But the real snag was that the commission he wanted was based on an existing piece of artwork, and the original artist wanted to be paid as well. The sculptor wouldn't start unless the pen and paper artist was paid first, and the cost just climbed and climbed. Plus a middle man had to be paid as a part of the whole deal.

In the end he gave up. The estimate was well over a grand before things became hopeless.

There are a few non-anime sculptors who work in 1/6, such as this guy, but he charges $600 for the head alone and throws it on a GI joe/doll body:

But anime is a lost last I looked into it.

How about a custom Dakimakura?
How much would a commissioned dakimakura drawing be?

And then getting it printed on the pillow itself? What if I wanted to get a custom dakimakura that was taller than average? I have seen some places that make those for tall characters.

For the custom printing there is a guy that will do it shipped for 35$

Sure, I'll take the info. I won't be buying one just yet but I would like it for future references. Do they have sites/pixiv accounts or any examples of their work?
I have room mates now, but when I get my own place I will probably get one.

She's the artist i know. She's done alot of work for me and I've yet to see a style she can't pull off.
