Plot-wise Ben-To is nothing special, but it gets points for the odd art direction.

>"ok this scene is dialog heavy, so rather than closeup shots of each character's face as they talk, lets put the "camera" in weird places.

>"Lets go with a shot from inside the the softdrink cup, looking out. This will be complete with distorted visuals due to the liquid, as well as muffled dialog and underwater sounds. And if a girl starts talking the camera will pan to her tits."

So yea, compared to Gintama and other shounen parody series the writing in ben-To isn't that hot, but it makes up for it with the subtle and quirky presentation.
