I'm starting a short Touhou mystery game. Working title is "Mystery of Occultics," basically a parody of Sherlock Holmes with Reimu as Sherlock and Marisa as Watson. The running around and picking things up/exploring will be more or less like Yume Nikki/Corpse Party but I plan on doing some somewhat intricate puzzle work, maybe closer to what Kara no Shoujo is.

Might start an official group for this, but for the time this is just a concept and I'm just doing a basic layout/menu and working on the script. Basically plan on grabbing a bunch of mystery shorts and combining certain parts and subbing Touhoes for the regular characters. If anyone feels like doing draws of Marisa/Reimu/other Touhoes that'd be fine. This isn't going to be a very long game but I'd like to polish it up nice and make it attractive.

Inspired by the mystery shit that seems to be popping up across /jp/, lately.

Sounds pretty interesting. Kara no Shojo didn't really have puzzle aspects, though; there was some choices you'd make detective work that you had to do (who did it? with what? where do you want to go?) but that was because it's a detective game.

It sounds like a really interesting idea! What resolution are you thinking of doing it in / what will the general screen layout be? Make sure to tell us what you think so we can help out~

A survival game.

Each person is put in a pair and pairs are determined by the two peoples survivability rating. So if one person has a high chance at survival then they would be paired with a person who would be terrible at survival, and if your partner dies, you are fucked.

You play two different characters. One is a borderline hikki chick who is "hallucinating" the entire game, and can't tell if her normal life or the survival game is real. The other is a man from a private military contractor who had something to do with the organization hosting the game, but can't remember exactly what is going on or why he get forced into the game.

The game will start out from the hikkis hallucination until eventually settling into the survival game and her segments will go between the survival and her hallucination. The dudes will go between his memories and the survival game.

The setting for the survival game is an odd multi labyrinthed complex with no way out, and during the game you can be given "missions" by the host that if you don't complete, it will cause you to die.

I have a reason for all of it to be happening and there's and actual purpose to the hallucinations the hikki is having, but I don't know if I should say in case anybody here actually plays it. (not really a good chance at that though.)

Hey guys. I don't have an OC to offer, but I do have a request.

I was hoping someone could play around with the colors in this picture here (or perhaps draw a picture of Flandre in such a style) so that I may use it on my credit card. Perhaps make Flandre black, and color each of the shards on her wings or something. I would try, but I lack photoshop skills and it's a JPEG so it has artifacts out the ass.

I request this because they won't accept any picture that may seem like it would by copyrighted, and if it's altered, perhaps I could lie and say I made/drew it myself (in case they actually go out of their way and reverse image search or something).

Here is some tips. You got OC work to show? post it without a name or trip. Don't put a sig on it when you post it here, add it later it you want, but not here.
Don't waste your time arguing with idiots ignore them and last don't let /jp/ deter you for posting OC.
/jp/ needs more OC makers because it sure as hell has it full of shit posting garbage.

Can more experienced people help out an aspiring animator?

I want to learn how to animate but can't afford going to art school. I bought a small lightbox and hole puncher, doing things frame by frame, to learn the basics on paper but I have no clue how to composition things.

Do I have to scan each individual frame with a scanner? That seems like a crazy amount of time to waste when I could be drawing more frames. I tried doing this for a few seconds of animation and it took a ridiculous amount of time.

What program do I use to put the animation together? I've been using photoshop to make animated gifs but the product is laughable. It isn't even good for testing the animation because it takes so damn long to assemble.

I'm completely lost on the technical front but it is just so much fun I can't stop. Any help would be appreciated, if you can offer it.

Here's the short segment I scanned a while ago. I've corrected some of the timing issues since then but haven't added them in.

Welp. It turned out really dirty. I haven't drawn in a while, so I decided to copy an image into a sketch for now.

Any pen(cil) and paper fags here? How do you draw shit without erasing stuff every minute? Is 9000 hours of practice the only way? Or am I doing something wrong here?

There is no way I could go to school, though. Is there no other way? I've been looking for tutorial videos for different programs but they mostly teach how to use them for puppet animation and none explain the process of importing animation from paper.

I would think there would be some place with some more detailed explanation. I have a crude idea of what to do but no definite one.

This is all stuff I am already familiar with. I was more looking for the technical tutorials for help with specific programs. For example I have a program downloaded called toon boom but the tutorials they have for it up online are really lacking and the program itself is beyond convoluted, which is why I have been using photoshop. I am having trouble even importing the frames properly.

Very few people seem to animate on paper anymore and resources for transferring paper to digital animation is difficult to come by.

Sorry if I was unclear but there isn't any reason to be so hostile.

I'll stop asking for help now.

Pretty much you have to scan every drawing. It's the reason most people work all digital.

There are specific programs to make the process more efficient. Toon Boom is one of them, but it's designed more for vector graphics and its support for dealing with rasters isn't that great.

TVPaint is my favorite. Its got a great set of X-sheet type tools for dealing with timing. It can be kinda clunky and it's got a lot of crap you'll never need though.

The general workflow is scan -> ink&paint -> comp -> edit.

You can use something like Toon Boom or TVP for scan and paint, then export to a compositing program for more control over layering and color. After Effects and Nuke are both popular. Once you've finished your shot, you can edit it in something like Final Cut or Avid.

Good luck anyway. A cheap lightbox and a hole punch is a good way to start.

Do you honestly think the way animation is and has always has been made is 50 people take thousands of pictures and scan them on a computer? Do you really think that?

There is this thing called an animation camera. You lock the pictures on the camera and use that to record the animation. Nobody really even uses this anymore because all animation is done with computers, but if you are going to sit and scan a bunch of frames GOOD LUCK.

Thanks.

I've looked up Yuno Sleeping, it sounds smooth as well. However, I prefer it when there are voices. Voices are relatively easy to perceive while dreaming, and can easily change their course. For example, I have had several dreams where I would casually speak with someone, and their lips would synch to the audio track. Then, their face and behaviour would change to the character whose voice I listen to as well. That's why I like making and listening to these tracks, not only for the pre-sleep comfort part.

Video tutorials. There's a lot, though most of the better ones are commercial and for Max/Maya. Start with something that goes step-by-step for modeling a whole object so that you can see all the tools in action and listen to someone explain why he does certain things. I can make an educated guess as to who he is, in which case he's an artist for multiple (at least 2 that I know of) western 'doujin' (as in indie, not necessarily manga) projects. Not going to identify him because I agree with him on the faggotry.

Not the guy you're replying to, but yeah they are kind of long. They end up looking more masculine due to the lack of any real definable hip section.

>> No.8172246

>>8172233

They seem a bit too long, but it comes down to just hacking a section off. In b4 aneemay anatomy. Anyway, I'd rather provide some specific input aside from "LOOKS KAWAII" or "LOL ANATOMY." Good luck, keep up the good work!

>> No.8172245

>>8172233
They're pretty long.

Take your thumb and index finger, then use them to measure the distance from the top of the foot to the crotch.

Then compare that to the much shorter length from crotch to head. You need to trim the legs a bit, but not too drastically.

Hey guys, I come to you with another request, this time, it's much more complicated.

I'm looking to make a Rubik's cube with Touhou characters. This first, test one are planned to have Rumia, Crino, Hong, Patchouli, Sakuya, and Remilia, obviously, a Touhou 6 themed cube.

I am requesting OC pictures of these characters in the resolution in either:
176x176 (1.83in or 4.66cm)
206x206 (2.15in or 5.45cm)

The image itself should probably be a portrait shot of the character looking cool and whatnot, but it's up to the artist if they want to do that or go with a full body picture. I wish to do monochrome with black outlines of the character so it's easy to solve the cube when it's mixed up but colored ones would be acceptable (especially if full body and the background is a solid color). If monochrome it would be best to have the picture's color's easily changed (i.e. PNG, no artifacts, ect)

If someone's up for this, and it looks good, I'll be happy to ship a cube to the artist for free and maybe perhaps send some to other /jp/er's for the cost of the cube, stickers, and shipping. Maybe even make more cubes with other game's casts on them.

Anyway, if you're interested, email me. I check my email daily. Here's a picture of my plans and blueprints I drew at work while bored.

>> No.8175546

>>8175508
I forgot to mention, it would be BEST to have both resolutions available, to see which would look better given the spaces on the cube. One, the picture was measured with the spaces in consideration and simply put on the cube, the second, the picture is cut, and the pieces are trimmed to make the spaces on the cube. In the first, the picture may seem stretched because it was at original resolution then spaced out, the second, the picture will not look stretched but may be missing qualities because they were trimmed out to make the spaces.

So both, if possible to check them out, would be best.
