So I've spent about a year and a half learning Japanese and I want to start trying to apply it. Are there any good low level manga/games that I can use to practice while learning?

Wow, I haven't ever really looked closely at maritan, but these translations are terrible.

There are a lot of Visual Novels that would be good practice. Bakemonogatari and the rest of those, Infinite Stratos, Toradora!, Spice and Wolf, etc.

Like stuff made for young adults. The big 3 would be a good start if you're a masochist.

I'm looking for titles.

Thanks. I've already seen the animes so that should make it easier to read too.

You should have been applying it a year ago. Just read whatever you like.

Well, what they're translating is fine, but that's just blatantly incorrect. Or not, I actually looked up what "Fuckin A" means and it turns out there was a positive meaning I never knew existed (also a lot of people who never knew a negative meaning existed). Whatever.

Agree with this guy. You will have to cut your teeth on something. I just started reading light novels. The first one took me a good month of work, looking up things all the time. It gets a lot easier.

The problem is that I have been studying really casually. As in not every day, sometimes gaps as large as four days.

>> No.8144364

I actually learned Japanese solely by reading light novels, without any other instruction. It was hard at first, but by the time I'd finished one series I had the basics down, and after about a month I was completely fluent.

One of the most important things I've found is that you need to have a method for looking up things you don't know. I mostly use rikaichan (i.e., EDICT), alc.co.jp, lang-8.com, and google. Google is hit or miss but the others are all usually quite solid. Find what works for you.
