My nextdoor neighbor's house has been burglarized many times but I still sleep with my window wide open. I don't have a screen for it either and it faces the front of the house.

I like to think that what has deterred any would-be burglars from breaking into my house are the laughs and angry yells coming from my room throughout the night well into the morning.

I do own a gun though. a smith and wesson 500 that's sitting in the glass case on my desk, a machete on top of my desk shelf, and some hunting rifle my grandfather gave me I don't know the name of in my closet.

My dad is getting a rifle and a shotgun real soon and my room is an armory of melee and chemical weapons. Though our neighborhood isn't really high income enough to be worried about this sort of thing, I think.
