Iamp community is very willing to help you get better. It's just that iamp is played at a much higher skill level, so it's much harder for new players to start out, since you mostly only face people who destroy your shit, unlike soku's playerbase, which is mostly shit players that will suck just as much as you and don't have a clue.

Good Games, a.a. Not sure if my execution is just absolute ass, or if the command interpreter is just brutal. It's obvious that just learning that one piss easy combo isn't going to help me, though. Sorry for just using one character, by the way. I think it's for the best if I just stick with Marisa.

>> No.8119764

>>8119607
Good games. Your Marisa pressure could use more 5C, I think. But yeah, more experience and you'll be fine.

>> No.8119803

>>8119760
>command interpreter is just brutal
It's true. There's virtually zero buffer, so something simple like 41236A/B for Marisa (her typical okizeme) can be tricky at first.

And hey, playing one character to start off with is perfectly fine. Once you feel pretty comfortable with inputs and movement, then you might start trying other characters to see if they interest you.

Good games, dude. Even though I got destroyed every round I actually had a lot of fun.

>>8119803
Got it. So, you recommend I just grind execution and combos in training mode until I get it right? Or should I be using the th075booster as well? Default AI is awful, so I'm not even going to bother with that.

>> No.8119849

>>8119832
As far as the command interpreter goes, it's just a matter of understanding how it works. As in, which way to input is the one it wants.

Generally, I just make sure to let go of directions before pushing a button. In soku, if I need 236b, I'll do 236 and then push b with 6 still pushed. In iamp, you push 236, let go, and then B.

Grinding practice mode is never a bad idea for ANY fighting game. It's not that fun, but if it helps you get down stuff you're having trouble with, why not.

Booster is a pretty good opponent if you don't abuse the holes in the AI (it never blocks meaty bullets on wakeup).

My advice on getting better? Play more. Just play the game. It'll come. If/when you hit a wall you can ask for help on the specific things you don't understand, but as long as you're gradually improving, just keep playing and don't give up. Improvements can be pretty subtle.

Or if you're interested, watch tournament replays. They're pretty interesting to watch. Bellreisa has tons of replays up on youtube, along with commentary.
You don't have to STUDY that shit like it's homework, but just watching an entertaining match for fun, you might pick up things you didn't know.

>> No.8119894

>>8119849
Good thing I actually enjoy grinding training mode a lot while waiting for a match to pop up. I'll be sure to grind it even more now. Those IADs on pad are pretty difficult, and they seem to be essential for most of Marisa's corner pressure, nothing a little training mode can't fix, I suppose.

Hopefully more people on /jp/ will pick up IaMP, it'd be nice to have civil IaMP/soku threads, and more people to play is always welcome.

>> No.8119902

SWR's interpreter is pretty shit in general and punishes you if you're too fast. I personally end up eating way too much shit in the corner because I try to super jump out too quickly, and the 2 press gets lost during blockstun resulting in nothing good. It's easiest to see if you do j.(6D)4. If you're fast, then you'll just keep flying in a giant circle as it tries to point you towards 4 instead of cancelling flight like it should.

That one was a stretch. Tatsu loops = Tenshi Pressure and both have a DP where the run across the ground.

In the end, we decided that Cody throws rocks, has a weapon, and fight for their own entertainment, so Cody should move there, but really Sakura is hard one to place.
