Yeah, it would be. I like to think that it's red carpeting and the walls are just stone or at the most red highlighted wallpaper. Fanon just exaggerates everything, then makes up new things and exaggerates those.

In game we never really see the walls, or what color they'd be. In EOSD we only see the red carpet floors. The walls are always just darkness.

In Hisotensoku we only see some room where the only light source is a big red glowy thing on the floor, the roof which is brown, and the library, which has the aforementioned red carpets, but otherwise it's all book spines.

I can't claim to know every bit of canon but it seems unlikely to have red plaster/painted walls and ceilings. If it was really a medieval castle boosted from Europe, the walls are likely to be plain stone blocks. Remillia and Sakuya are supposed to have taste as well, which I think would steer them away from all red too.
