Cu Chulainn had an awesome life though, and he knew exactly what he was going into when he took up arms at that particular day. Diarmuid had a decent life too, it's just that Fionn mac Cumhail is a gigantic faggot.

But every other spear in Irish mythology was a bloodthirsty monster that was just as likely to kill its wielder as the enemy, so I guess that counts.
