The only people who still hate blindly on FFTA after eight years are the nerds who wanted it to be another unbalanced Final Fantasy Tactics. Final Fantasy Tactics was a masterpiece, I am not going to deny that. But it is near impossible to not break the game and basically free cheat your way through.

FFTA had plenty of flaws but stop beating it to shit because it didn't have your DEEP story and stupid difficulty spikes.

I have to admit that I was a little confused by Cid being willing to give you a position as judge (once you grew up), considering every one Marche's acts in the game is to completely destroy the world where Cid is a responsible and upstanding citizen.

The fatal flaw with FFTA is that it actually managed to be more fun and accessible than 95% of the SRPGS on the market in 2003. The fun part comes from the fact that it doesn't blindly adjust the difficulty over the course of the game at random.

FFTA was a GOOD game, not great. It didn't live up to the expectations of incredible story plot and character development for me. That doesn't mean it didn't have a fun and replayable game system. Just means that quite a few fans felt it didn't give all it could have.

There are basically 6 entertainment value areas a game can cover and appeal to. Depending on the game genre, some areas are more important to cover than others.

1) Fun game mechanics. 2) Replayability. 3) Great graphics (for its time). 4) Story line. 5) Character development. 6) Catchy Soundtrack.

Having 3-4 of these areas appeal to us (each person is different, of course!) makes it a good game. 5 makes it a great game. Having all 6 (very few games do) makes it a classic appreciated by its generation for life.

I actually enjoyed it just for the fact that it was fun. I mean, I look for challenge in SPRG's, sure. FFTA seemed to come in the middle of Disgaea and FFT in terms of difficulty.

Stop hating the game because it's more accessible. If you are going to shit on it for the story than we can sure as hell find plenty of flaws in FFT and any of your other favorite SRPG's.

Also, I think Marche should've been taken to a Jagd and slain for his asinine bullshit immediately after the events at Muscadet.

He'd wake back up as an undead in a hellish post-apoc wasteland that turns out to be Ivalice, immediately after the 'great cataclysm' or whatever the hell it was that killed everything but a couple handfuls of Hume.

He'd continue trying to 'get home' like a retard (though with a significantly heavier heart), then discovers during his travels that the Grimoire's true intent was as a prison; it was trying to keep him, Mewt, Ritz, Cid and Doned inside what he believed was the 'real' world, and what he thought was the 'dream' world was, in fact, real.

Problem was, Mewt was just too magically powerful for the Grimoire to handle, and he broke everyone out, prompting shit to eventually hit the fan and kill almost everybody on the surface. Yes, Marche, you and your buddies glassed TWO worlds with your collective stupidity.

Final goal would end up being trying to find the MacGuffin that'll lift Marche's undead state, destroying him utterly and restoring a modicum of hope to what remains of the Hume race.
