Oh dear God the nostalgia, it HURTS. What made RO so great was, due to it's awful grindy nature, people sat down and took it easy. Not like the MMOs nowadays that make everyone run around like chickens without heads. It was essentially a 4GB chatroom, where people would just sit down at Payon or whatever and talk about their days.

Those were the good ol' days. I still know a few people who still play, but after seeing the 3rd classes, I vowed never to go back.

At least for me it was like that: grind a little, hunt a bit, and at the end of the day, go to a city to sit down, or maybe to a place with nice scenery, and chat. Chat with my guildies about their days, their lives. We were all friends, in a fleeting but comfortable sense of the word. We had something to tie us together (the game itself), and the surroundings were much more appealing than any noisy shitty pub. The textures, the music, the sound effects even.
When I played that game, I ceased existing on the real world for a bit.
Ugh, I got a bit too much carried away.
