Tasukete /jp/

How do you guys run Japanese games on your computer? (ex: getting rid of the irrelevant symbols that are in place of Japanese characters)

I've tried applocale, but the east asian languages on the list show up as boxes and still none of them work.
I have W7 Home Premium, so language packs don't work (I even tried Vistalizator)

I'm trying to get into playing VNs and stuff but I'm getting annoyed.

Get W7 ENTERPRISE or Ultimate.

It's days like these I wish Google hadn't been invented.

I agree.

I have no problems running anything Japanese in Windows XP with Applocale.

I've been using that and already tried what I've come across.
- I've downloaded AppLocale, and tried to use that (didn't work)
- I've downloaded the lp.cab and used Vistalizator to change display language to Japanese (didn't work)

Any suggestions?

Ignore these faggots, faggot. I will help you.

Have you tried
>Control Panel
>Clock, Language, and Region
>Install and uninstall display languages (make sure you have the fonts installed of course)
>Change Location
>Change Display Language

I don't think you actually should need all this (except installing the languages of course), but they are all things to try.

Be aware that changing locale can fuck things up. Once had a computer continually fail to boot since one of the things I had plugged into it hated me changing locale. I only figured it out since I was unplugging things to ship the computer off somewhere and I tried booting with only the keyboard...

Do what this guy said. AppLocale isn't supported by 7 because that option exists.

Lycos would take its place.

Thank you, however I can't do that.

I've already installed the Japanese language pack, but I can't change the display language.
----
Now that I'm fiddling with it more, AppLocale recognized the Japanese text in it's language drop down list, but it won't open up setup.exe. I think the fault is on the game itself.
Oh, well

Thanks for the people who tried to help. I'm just gonna delete this game.

Did you ensure to run AppLocale on compatibility mode?

>> No.8104388

Goddammit. I am a huge fucking faggot.

I went ahead and used the english patch and ran the english exe in one last effort before I delete it.
It works.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience I've caused.
White Ren, you were correct in assuming that I was being an idiot.

Wow I read his post wrong. Don't do what he said. Instead do this.
>Control Panel
>Region and Language
>Administrative
>Change system locale

The only thing that changed to Japanese was my NVIDIA card options and ¥ instead of \ in file name lists. Everything else works in English except for Japanese programs(which work in Japanese).
