How do you afford your lifestyle, /jp/?

Do you make money doing odd jobs on the internet or did you just inherit a large amount of NEET money?

They are

Virtually nobody gets it on their first attempt and a vast majority of the people who apply have to hire lawyers. It's a time consuming and embarrassing thing to go through (which is rough on your typical /jp/ shutin). You have to go to a few doctors and explain to a judge why you think you shouldn't have to work like everyone else.

Even after all this your money will only be a small portion of what you used to make at a job, so don't expect a monthly fortune.

That seems to be how it is with me. I dropped out of school and did nothing for five years, then worked for about four, and now I'm back to doing nothing.

I wish I could get some kind of lump of money and do nothing for good. I live an extremely Spartan lifestyle, so it wouldn't even have to be that much money. I'd just drop out of society and not bother anyone.

Not really. I don't have a car (so no payments, insurance, or gas), and I don't go anywhere since I don't have a social life.

I guess just keep note of the things you absolutely must pay (rent, electricity, etc.), and make sure to minimize where you can, like with grocery shopping. It depends on how good of a cook you are, but one can make some decent meals on very little money per week.

It's easy once you realize just how much unneeded bullshit people buy. Little things here and there add up quickly.

Food is cheap in America, keep an eye on what's on sale and you can get some good food for a bargain. When I go into a grocery store I don't go for what tastes best for the money, but what is most nutritious for the money. That's all food is after all, fuel. People glorify everything about it and now it's some sort of big social thing. Also it's impossible to starve to death here, if you're feeling really hungry and have no money you can always go into a store and steal something. Hell sometimes I'll grab one of those ready made sandwich things and walk around the store eating it. I've never been stopped for that and if you are you can just say "I'm going to pay for it at checkout."

If you're in need of something regular or even big entertainment items craigslist is your friend, especially if you can trade shit. I'm not going to go into finding junk and reselling it as that's a whole other ball game. Also I bought my car on craigslist years ago for $1200 and it hasn't skipped a beat. I pay $30 a month on insurance and get 30mpg- if you own a car I recommend looking into doing the maintenance yourself. This stuff is extremely simple and if something breaks used car parts are very very cheap online from various forums.

I haven't bought clothes in ages. If I need new clothes I just walk into a store and ask to try something on, put on the new pants or whatever and just walk out with them.

It's all about stepping back and separating what you need from what you want. Obviously internet is a need, but cable tv is pointless.

There are literally tons of options for where you can live so I'll skip that too, most of you guys live at home anyway.

You may get denied on your first go, and people DO sometime use lawyers. But when I did this, it only took a few phone calls, some paperwork. and finally a doctor's visit. Boom $700 a month.

It's not glorious, and living alone on it would be really tight but what are you gonna do?

What I want to know is how people are living for a year at a time off money made at work. Most stuff we'd be able to do is minimum wage stuff, you'd hardly ever break even let alone have 30k or whatever saved up on the side of living expenses.

"Risk management officer" for an amusement pier/waterpark on the Jersey shore. Basically a twilight shift watchman. I have the physique of a twig, but that's okay since it's an "observe and report" job- meaning I'm not allowed to touch or even chase anyone. And there are rarely any incidents; maybe once a month I run into some kids who snuck in, and they bolt off at first sight.

The pay is alright for a job that only required a highschool diploma. Barely enough for food and an internet connection, but that's all I want in life. But I do most of my browsing in the early morning/early evening as a result.
