This really is weird. In the first Elder Scrolls games, the Nords even had extra skillpoints in the use of the spear.
And historically, spears have always had a special place in norse culture in general, and have, been, their most used weapon overall as well.

And now, the game that supposedly focused on the Nords' homeland(s), they neither get extra points in spears, or spears at all for that matter.

I might play it sometime in the future if someone cracks it properly enough, if only, to play a confused turtle with dual weilding shields, while being proficient in magic.
Still, I expect something alot more in the lines of say, God of War or possibly Dragon Age 2, than a free, open world Elder Scrolls game in which you can do lots of shit. The fact that they have restricted most of everything that was fun, only because they want you to play the game the way they designed and intended, kills most of it. Chameleon, Enchanting, Stat-limits/restrictions, heck, the removal of attributes in general. No athletics/acrobatics parameters, because oh the horrors, were you to be able to buff it and jump over/past some scripted scene! Call/Recall/Levitation, forbidden, forbidden.

Yes, but they seem to be relatively stuck up and constipated in how the game is to be played. They talk about freedom, but then the very next sentance they preech about streamlining and restrictions.

He even took offense when he learned that there were plenty of players that on purpose avoided the main-quest of Oblivion in priority of roaming the world.

I still have doubts on how easy it will be to mod back in the things they have removed. Apparently, they think, that they removed these things for very good reasons.

That's entirely their fault. They created an incentive to do those later even. Namely, items/sigil stones are much better at later levels. Also choice of sacrificed artifact for one quest, some of them require a higher level character.
