It displays an image of Hamburger Helper and sucks your dick.

one between story or RPG mode will be easy mode combat to allow faster story progression and dialogue choices included, while the other will be normal combat and normal dialogue.
it's the "you will make decisions that will shape the story" shit all over again, it sounds more impressive on paper than it actually is in game

I wanted Deus Ex, it gave me Mass Effect lite (which I didn't think could exist).

Full retard.

Oh wow. That Todd, or whatever his name, that works on Bethesda currently, really doesn't know what the "RPG" in a computer RPG refers to.

It has little to nothing to do with roleplaying, the "RPG" in a computer RPG, refers to the mechanics derived from and adapted from games like D&D and the like.

To put it shortly, the "RPG" doesn't stand for "roleplaying", it's a heads up that the game makes use of game mechanics from table top RPGs, that is, TRPGs such as D&D or Rune Quest or whatever.
Sorry Todd, you aren't exactly "putting the 'roleplaying' of roleplaying games into roleplaying games" with your branched dialogue trees. It's almost funny that it practically implies that computer RPGs are roleplaying games to begin with, no sane person would have claimed so in the past, but they kept calling them RPGs, and for good reasons.

The RPG in a "computer RPG", does not, stand for "roleplaying". No one ever claimed that it did, and it makes no sense for people to claim differently now.
You won't re-create roleplaying until we get properly intelligent AIs.

It stands for "Role-Playing Game". That's a clear and simple fact accepted by everyone.

Alright, let me put it in terms you can understand.

The "Role-Playing Game", in a "computer Role-Playing Game", does not, refer to, a _role-playing_-game.

There is no roleplaying, and no one ever claimed there was any. They were called RPGs, because it was derived from actual RPGs, not because they were RPGs. Honestly, its not that hard to understand.
Or do you really think that games such as the Wizardry series or say, Final Fantasy made use of roleplaying?

RPGs are dead
RPG = game where you gain XP
This is what people actually believe

Excuse my younger autistic brother. For some reason he felt it was a good idea to flaunt his autism around /jp/.

It's odd though. The original people playing roles are actors, who usually are following scripts, and only occasionally are improvising. Which would argue that any game in which you have a character you play is a role-playing game.

But such a discussion ought to belong in /v/.
