/jp/ I need your help. I had to write a piece of fiction for college. I couldn't come up with anything so I wrote a tl;dr version of Tsukihime, I changed the names of the characters and some other stuff (no shonen/powerlevel bullshit, no ciel, no infodumps, no more Shiki being a pussy) Problem is that my professor thinks it's amazing and wants to submit it to a national contest. How do I stop him from doing that without telling him the truth?

>> No.8067244

"I've thought it over and I've decided I'd rather not have it submitted, if that's all right with you."

Also, IP traced and submitted to academic misconduct board.

>> No.8067245

I don't know if thats plagiarism or just being a ripoff.

>> No.8067243

It doesn't matter. Only the fan wankers will notice and they won't come out of the closet. Since this is a thinly vield fan wank thread, do you mind jacking me off OP?

>> No.8067248

Just do it

>> No.8067253

I did the same two years ago.

if he submits it to the contest someone will realize it's plagiarism. they will email my professor and i'll lose his respect. i can't just tell him no, I need a good reason, he's being really persistent

>>8067239

So how thinly veiled it is? Is it basically a tl;dr carbon copy or did you take enough liberties to make it legitimately into a different story? If it is different enough, you may not have to worry.

>>8067255
The professor is trolling you hard bro.

>> No.8067266

Which route did you tl;dr?

>> No.8067267

Is it really a copy, or did you just imitate/make a similar story? If it's something that you could just play off as inspiration or coincidence, just do it. You must be an amazing writer to be able to get him think that way - I don't think Nasu's original would be contest-worthy...

>> No.8067261

>>8067258
i doubt it, he gave me a 100% grade on the paper.

>> No.8067263

Tell him it's incomplete, and not ready for the public yet.
I imagine you would get in a lot of shit and lose a fair amount of respect if he finds out.
I doubt you will get legally punished for plagiarism though.

>>8067261
Thats some high tier trolling, he's leading you on hard, no professor ever gives out a 100% in writing, ever. That means that it was perfect in his opinion.

So basically, OP took nasu's work, fixed its flaws, and turned into an epic masterpiece? Now I want to read it.

>>8067259
I dunno. I think it's too similar. student gets this "urge" to kill a woman he meets in the street, follows her to apartment, cuts her in 17 pieces, later on finds out he's been possessed from birth by a demon who the woman was trying to hunt down, he discovers he's adopted and his father is a murderer, his sister is a vampire. i ended the story with akiha's "good" end. Btw I gave everyone french names

>>8067277
That synopsis sounds really bad, seriously. How well was that story written?

>> No.8067285

>>8067281
I'm not going to post it

>> No.8067288

I think /lit/ may be able to advise you better.

It's a bit silly that you copied things like 17 pieces though, details like that would have been easy to change (also things like changing some character's gender can really make people not see the similarities).

If he swapped the genders he would've been plagiarizing Kara no Kyoukai instead.

Did you change the nasuverse things? like mystic eyes and all that jazz.

Just tell it as it is, if with a bit more diplomatic language. Say you borrowed the framework for writing excercise and never intended it for circulation. If you're getting along well with the teacher you might probably want to discuss your motivations and the differences from Tsukihime, otherwise it's probably best to keep it short and without too many details.

>> No.8067320

>>8067308
I didn't include anything about the mystic eyes, marble phantasms or anything, because it was too complicated to explain. I even turned all the vampires in the story to "demons" without any further detail to make it easier to digest

>> No.8067336

>>8067320
Did you include the other girls besides Arc and Akiha?

If not, it just might be distant enough.

>> No.8067346

so you streamlined tsukihime and made it enjoyable?
that makes you awesome

>> No.8067351

according to /jp/ tsukihime was a ripoff of some other game to begin with, so this would be a second order ripoff or something.

>> No.8067349

Jesus fuck it's not that hard.

"I am not comfortable with my work being scrutinized at a national level. I'm glad you enjoyed it but I'm fine settling for my grade and nothing else. Please respect my decision."

I hope you're trolling because I'm sure even the most autistic /jp/sie could get himself out of this.

>> No.8067359

Just tell him something like this :

"Actually there is this work that I really admire but at the same time I am frustrated by some of its shortcomings. So I decided to write some fanfiction of it just for the satisfaction. I was half facetious, half serious when I submitted the story since it was just school work and this was something I was really passionate about. I only wanted to see how far I could go and make the story I love more accessible to everyone, but in the end since it is derivative work, I simply can not take credit for it."

>> No.8067360

Post it?

>> No.8067362

that sounds pretty believable. gonna email it to him now

thanks
