It doesn't make sense to give up on a medium just because you don't like one of its highest regarded entries. General opinion isn't worth a damn. There are lots of highly rated eroge that I don't like as much as most people (including YU-NO; I thought it was good but nothing amazing) but there are also lots of not as highly rated eroge that I enjoy the shit out of, much more than games like YU-NO.
