What is the deal with kotatsu?
I mean, if that was that good, that would sell worldwide, but afaik, almost only Japan makes them.

KOTATSU NAU!

sitting on the floor is disgusting

>> No.8044047

While Japan invented kotatsu, the rest of the world invented insulation.

Not exactly kokatsu but my grandparets had one small stove that they put under a small circular table ( A western one) and then a long duvet ground covering the table, it reached the ground.

The feeling of it in winter was priceless.

And central heating. Don't forget that.

>> No.8044052

Because the rest of the world would rather have central heating than a table with a heated blanket.

My mom always told people to take their shoes off in the house and she's a typical dumb blonde American. Where does this idea that murricans don't take their shoes off inside their houses come from? That one Haruhi line?

Not this shit again, it depends what kind of floor do you have and the habits if where do you live.

Pic related, is a kind of floor you can walk with shoes on.

I'd like one, seems cheaper than central heating. Plus its not like I ever move away from my desk.

Ahh, that floor is so pretty and white. I couldn't stand to risk marking it up by wearing shoes. Barefoot just feels so much better anyway.

As child of poor poor family i know that warmth of one heating source under table when everything else is chillier is unique. For capitalist pigs camping might be equivalent

Yep, because dirt doesn't show up on white marble.

No, because some people can clean daily and marble is easy to clean, fucking retards, I miss the time people here was just autistic but at least smart enough to not miss this simple detail.

Or you could just take your fucking shoes off and clean it once a month as opposed to every fucking day. My house had both marble and carpet and we still took them off at the door.

Because Japanese winters are mild, their buildings are very poorly insulated, if they are insulated at all (Tokyo rarely drops below freezing, with a daytime high of 10 Celsius in the winter).

Electric perimeter heating would normally do the job in keeping them warm, but there is another problem with Japanese architecture. Their buildings are designed to be "breezy" in the summer to help keep the occupants cool, but in February these become cold drafts. Even if the indoor temperature is fairly warm, you are occasionally exposed to fast moving cooler air.

The Kotatsu was designed to help poorfags cope with their poorly built buildings.

Don't they actually use kotatsu or variations thereof here and there all over Asia?
Pretty sure I've seen some Chinese and even an Iranian version.

So unless it was done just right and got local approvals everywhere...
