Download Median XL mod (and plugy if you want infinite storage (and multires if you want to change resolutions)).
It's basically Diablo 2.5. Everything you knew about Diablo 2 has been changed except the main quests in the acts you need to do to get forward. All enemies are new, all items are new (sets, uniques), all class skills are new, tons of new bosses, new dungeons (uberdungeons and uberlevels).

It's a really fun, challenge version of Diablo 2.

Protip: look up a newb friendly build from the forums.

Yeah, it requires some dedication, but when you kill an uberboss for the first time... feels good man.
They are HARD.
Hard to the point of instakilling you and being only vulnerable to one damage type every other second.
