Why does Steins;Gate 8 bit look like shit?

it really bothers me that an apparently serious Steins;Gate sequel is done in what looks like MsPaint.

Don't NitroPlus realise MsPaint didn't exist in the 8 bit eras? And some 8 bit games actually look GOOD because they embraced the style?

And yes a lot of adventure games did look like shit on an 8 bit computer, but some looked great. It's no excuse to get lazy.

Even Manic Mansion looks better than this, at least it was stylised. It's the MSPaint look that's getting to me.

Steins;Gate 8bit is emulating the way ADVs looked in 80s really damn well. Seriously, stuff was drawn on screen one line at time, and palettes were very limited.

The problem is that it looks likey didn't use a line tool at all, but some kind of shaky Mspaint pencil too. A lot of 8 bit graphics were very solid looking, probably because they were done one pixel at a time in some cases.

Again, this is MsPaint bullshit. The Vn you linked me looks decent at least.

I hate the nasty attitude where if you like a popular series, you're fair game to get torn into.

It's like a joke gone out of control, and I think this explains many of the downsides of 4chan as a whole because a lot of the nastier aspects started out as tongue in cheek.

People posting "It's shit right? it's shit" type humour at first were doing so in a mocking manner but kids coming in here that didn't understand that, started to pick up some habits seriously.

Now there are a lot of people on /jp/ who genuinely think it's cool to trash every FSN thread, every Umineko thread, etc. when it just makes them look like socially awkward assholes.

While some series have more artistic merit than others, it's not a "fact" that FSN, Umineko is "shit" nor should the fanbase be an excuse for disregarding it. If Steins;Gate hadn't been translated, it would have barely any western fans. If you really love the story, you would want others to experience it.

People think they have a divine right to get pissed off by fanbases no matter what. They've read a lot online about how creepy/annoying Sonic fans, weeaboos etc. are online and want to join in with the "Fun".

There are a bunch of other factors that explain why /jp/ fails so much these days, but I can just sum up it by saying that people are being douchebags over what other people like and how they like it.

While it has it's issues, I do genuinely believe a large portion of /jp/(or a small portion of very active posters) hate Umineko because it is popular. While there are plenty of issues with the VN itself, these are rarely expressed coherently by the same people, and aren't things that should count against people being fans of the work overall, or up until a certain point.

"The writing's shit" doesn't tell me anything except you'd make a crappy critic. I think a lot of people have overly grandiose ideas of exactly how prevalent "good writing" is.
