He's a friendly knight of virtue and valor. He kind of worships the sun, or at least really, really likes it. So much that in his dialog he says that he wishes he was like the sun. It's like his authority figure or something. You can summon him to help you with many bossfights, 5 IIRC, while other NPCs only help you with one or two. Near the end of the game, while traveling alone through some ruins of some lost city a parasitic insect that's shaped like a sun and shines brightly latches on to his head, making him mad and attack the player while rambling like a madman about becoming the sun. The player has no choice but to kill him or run away, there is no way to save him once the parasite is on his head. There is some pretty fucking obscure way to get to the parasite before him and kill it before it can hurt him though, which will make your friendship and jolly cooperation last for the rest of the game. If you manage to do this, he helps you beat the final boss.
