7998072 No.7998072 [Reply] [Original]

Aya is probably one of the most misunderstood Touhous.

Is she a peeper? A pervert? A slut? No, she just wants her story and will resort to anything to get it. It doesn't matter if it's a dirty story or not--if it'll sell, she wants it. She's just earning her yen to live a modest lifestyle with her cute little Momiji, and the salary of a Bunbunmaru journalist doesn't pay well at all.

She'll write clean if it makes money. She'll slander someone if it makes more. If she has to drop her skirt and get her asshole pounded by a big fat futa cock she'll do that too, all to make a living. It's sad, desperate even, but Aya doesn't complain.

Having said that, Aya thread.

Okay, here's the thing.

Every single Touhou talks to Aya formally.

Nobody goes near Yukari because of her personality, not because of her powers (although that is a negative point as well), according to the books. People also don't like that she teases others.

>Author, Yakumo... Yukari’? Ugh, really? She made this?
>Marisa was clearly annoyed, and strangely I agreed with her.

Did Spring being taken away affect her somehow? No.

Did the moon being frozen affected her somehow? No, and the fact that she went with Yukari does not mean that she forced her.

Did the flowers acting weird affect her? No.

Did a mist that tempted people to make parties affect her? On the contrary, but she still thought it was weird.

I find it very rude of you to claim that she's undutiful, when she has not once failed to do one of her OBLIGED duties and those scenarios that she considers must be done something about (incidents). Uh...no? Her shrine's a mess and she does absolutely nothing involving her normal miko duties. It doesn't attract visitors because it's in the middle nowhere in relation to everything else and attracts youkai. She just stopped caring about her shrine. Reimu's a bitch but everyone loves her, this is also given in the books.

Spring being taken away: she wasn't able to attend a flower viewing festival. It affected her.

I assume Yukari just pestered Reimu enough so that Reimu would go just to shut her up, Yukari could have easily solved it herself.

I never really payed attention to whatever happened in IaMP since I found SWR and Hisoutensoku to be more fun, but the whole "party mist" thing probably happened out of circumstance.

For the most part, she goes after incidents and stumbles upon some greater threat while trying to satisfy her own demands; PCB had her want to bring back spring so she could see flowers bloom, and in the process she stopped an airheaded ghost princess from resurrecting an evil tree that would have killed everyone. MoF was just Kanako and Reimu being petty.

In the mangas she's shown doing various ceremonies that are part of the tradition of the Hakurei, most noticeable the youkai-star hiding one (that Marisa messed up).

>Spring being taken away: she wasn't able to attend a flower viewing festival.

The ''festival'' was at her shrine you know, the fact that the spring was taken away is something considered grave and unnatural in Gensokyo and when something is odd, it's because someone is being naughty, her intuition is always right.

>but the whole "party mist" thing probably happened out of circumstance.

The party mist was Suika herself using her powers to make herself look like a mist, she grouped up people in order to augment the number of parties at the shrine, Reimu just thought it was odd despite being helpful to her cause.

>she goes after incidents and stumbles upon some greater threat while trying to satisfy her own demands

You're just manipulating things to go in your favour, the fact is, something weird happens and she goes to investigate what's the cause, it does not matter if the final boss was doing something crazy, it's the fact that it was being mischevous and deserved a spanking which is what Reimu soughts right from the beginning. By the way, SA is the only example of her and her partner not thinking it's a big deal until later on, as spring dissapearing is considered grave as previously mentioned.

She isn't, otherwise she wouldn't invite them to drink tea, make parties or befriend them at all, it's because there's no such thing as a grudge (except for Kaguya and Mokou) or an actual serious conflict.

ZUN said in the PCB music section that no matter how harsh the dialogue may seem, the girls will never be serious and they'll know they're playing.

Yukari can't solve it herself not due to her own abilities, but due to the fact that it's Reimu's duty.

Also, her shrine IS a mess. It's been reported multiple times in multiple media as being in various states of disrepair; whether this is due to Reimu's own neglect/apathy or the fact that she doesn't get donations to fix the damn thing is irrelevant.

I can hardly regard the comics as any sort of canon, but that's personal opinion. Some people fully acknowledge them, some meet halfway, and some (like myself) don't view them as anything remotely relevant. PMiSS and possibly BAiJR are the only things I really acknowledge, although one is written by a loli who can't get her facts right due to Rashomon storytelling and the other being a tabloid written by little miss crowslut.

I base my "Reimu is lazy as fuck" theory off the events in MoF, namely Moriya calling Reimu out for being a shitty miko and not having any faith to sustain the shrine, let alone keep its resident god present and satisfied.

>if she actually managed the shrine properly, its god wouldn't have left it

I now know you don't know shit about all of this, why are you making things up?

First of all, her god hasn't left the shrine, it's still there. Second, her ''management'' doesn't do shit about the whole issue, it's whether or not there are worshippers in which she's actually the best (or should I say least unsuccessful) shrine maiden of her clan since a) The Hakurei Shrine has never been so clean according to BAiJR and b) She actually gets visitors and an occassional donator, in which Akyuu says that not one of the previous mikos ever had a single one nor did they take care of the shrine properly.

>She also doesn't know what money is or why it's important;

She obviously does, except that she does not need it for herself but to expand the shrine and fix the problem her ancestors created by building the shrine far from the village and close to the youkai-infested forest, this was mentioned in PMiSS as part of her duty.

>> No.7998673 [DELETED]

PMiSS. Reimu regards everyone the same, those are as close to exact words as I can bother to remember. This can be interpreted to mean that she doesn't discriminate to her being an indifferent and apathetic bitch. The end of EoSD shows hints of the latter, as well as some of the dialog after fights. The entire extra battle in EoSD happens because Reimu wants Remilia to go home and stop bothering her but can't because of the rain. Also, UFO...even though it's not canon, she pretty much tells Kogasa in so many words to get the fuck out of her way and go die in a hole. Whether this is just her own impatience or outright malice, she took it out on someone who REALLY didn't deserve it.

Also, she beat the piss out of a bird for no reason other than to take her book.

If she needs to buy things, she most likely doesn't get why it works but understands that it does. Also, "donations" could be anything. You could donate your time/general maintenance materials such as lumber to her and she would be grateful for it.

>It's been reported multiple times in multiple media as being in various states of disrepair

Show me where it says that then. The times it has been in ''disrepair'' are when Tenshi and Yukari destroyed her shrine, as said before, BAiJR and PMiSS show that her shrine has never been so well maintained.

>I can hardly regard the comics as any sort of canon

What? Why? Because you don't feel like it? It's written by ZUN so why it shouldn't be? That's just yourself being neglectful and I can't take you seriously like that.

>not having any faith to sustain the shrine

That's CoLA, and it only says that she doesn't view money as a value for herself, and PMiSS states that her duty is to expand the shrine with the money in order to attract more visitors. WaHH also shows her being regretful over not being able to use the gold she finds near the hot springs due to it having poison.

The whole point of a shrine is to attract as much worshippers as possible, it's done that way by using the donated money to create more territory for the shrine's grounds, it's stated this way in the shrine's article of PMiSS.

People have stated that Akyuu can't get her story straight for any number of reasons (either youkai trying to say stuff in their favor or her own failings as a chronicler) and BAiJR is a tabloid.

I don't regard the comics as canon because some of them went off with ZUN's blessing but other than a guiding hand he has no influence over the details of what is written. SSiB is like that. That's why some people are willing to compromise and say they're half-canon.

Actually wolves are quite shy and avoid contact with people. In fact, they avoid people to the point that they leave their pups behind and hide if humans come near the den. Wolves really only attack people if they are starved, sick or otherwise desperate, and still generally only go for lone humans that they can relatively easily overpower, like small children.

Wolves are smart. They know a lot of humans don't like them, and if they kill one it only means more will come for them and make life miserable.

Because her memory is starting to fade and therefore the articles that concern things that have over ONE HUNDRED YEARS of antiquity seem so mundane that they end with ''not much is known about this'', there's no reason for ZUN to write a book that tells of all of Gensokyo and being false.

No, it's only because he expressed said mystical and seemingly arbitrary sense of beauty and appreciation explicitly in words.

Actually, if you like a character for any other reason than seeing that character being horribly violated by giant Lithuanian wild pigs (or equivalent), you express it just as well.

And now, back to Aya.
Again.

If I'm not mistaken, when it comes to tengu who are reincarnated humans, the appearance of the nose apparently reflects their behaviour in life.

Why's that?

I dunno. I just figure that a bird youkai would be more bird-like than crow tengu.
Like...Okuu and Mystia and Tokiko are birds, right? They're bird youkai, but their still birds. Aya and Hatate are crow tengu; they've got bird features, but they're tengu, not birds. So bird youkai would be more bird like than tengu.

I don't think they are actually ''birds'', a youkai is a mythological creature BASED on a commonly seen animal or just made up (like Kappa), sometimes there's requisites for an everyday object/organism to becomeone.

Either way, tengu are just another youkai species with their own subdivisions, same (for the former aspect) as say, a hell raven.

I want to keep discussing this, but I've suddenly got really sick of trying to prove a point.

Mystia, at the very least, is not a bird - not the way Chen is (or used to be, however you prefer to put it) a cat or Wriggle a firefly, for example. At least she shouldn't be according to mythology, we don't know ZUN's official stance on the matter.

Also, when you read Bohemian Archive, everyone including Aya herself considers her a bird. And (at least some) tengu are even born from eggs, apparently. So no, there's absolutely nothing that would suggest they're supposed to be particularly different from other bird youkai.
