Was Evangelion an abhorred disgrace to anime?

It's >>>/a/ piece of shit.

Anyone who has a problem with either of Evangelion's endings is exactly the kind of person the series is talking about. Pathetic fanboys locked in a fantasy world who are not trying to tackle real issues of philosophy or life.

Escapists suck. Anno is better than all of you. Evangelion is a masterpiece without peer. It is the apotheosis of each element: film, animation, art, darma, storytelling, and music.

And for those who go on about budget shortfalls and shit, I've got one thing for you: They made it work. The budgetary problems that Evangelion had are not in any way a reason to deride it, and they never have been.

For those who call Shinji whiney, or the overall series emo: congratulations, you're running away from emotions and you're a callous fuck. Good job. Every human wants to be legitimately loved by other humans, and plenty of them do not get the upbringing necessary to cope with the realities of human interaction. It's so cool that you can laugh at those unfortunate souls. Because you know if you laugh at someone then clearly you yourself are not a victim of their maladies. Not at all. You're not hiding or putting up a wall or anything.

And we know that Evangelion is about real human issues because, omgz, it was based on real psychology and philosophy, and not just one, but actually drew from several diverse and even conflicting elements. Much the same as humans themselves have internal conflicts. This only makes Evangelion more relevant and more powerful.
