What kind of pets do most /jp/ers have? Do you enjoy each others company? I've been thinking about getting one lately, myself, but I don't know what kind of pet I would like the most. I've thought about birds, and ferrets, but I'm not sure what other pets I'd like that I could keep in my room most of the time. I've been jobless and living with my parents for over a year now and the loneliness is starting to set in, so I'd really like to have a companion living in my room with me.

I have a cat, whom I love very much. He's in my room most of the time and follows me around when I go into the other rooms. If someone other than my mother or myself comes into the house he runs into my room and won't leave until they're gone.

Had a dog since I was 5, lived 15 years until it choken on a piece of bone.

Never tried having a pet again over it.

Get a guinea pig. They're very sociable and talkative. They also have fairly distinct personalities.

Cats can live a long time if they're cared for properly, which mine is. He's an indoor cat so he won't get hit by a car or sick as much as outdoor cats would. We've had him for four years, so far. I don't think I'll get another pet after he's gone.
