I just realized why /jp/ is so full of autism.

So the board is labelled "/jp/ - Otaku Culture", right? And otaku are autistics. So it follows that some "ironic" "shitposters" would think they're making a clever point by filling this board with autism.

>> No.7971988

There is no ironic shitposting. As soon as you make a shitpost, whether you think it's ironic or not, you automatically think it's ok to shitpost, thus becoming a legitimate shitposter.

Note the "shitposters", not "shitposting."

"Shitposting" may not be "ironic", "but shitposters" can be,

That kind of broken logic doesn't just destroy ironic shitposting, but the whole culture of humor surrounding any kind of parody or satire.

Butthurt because science ruins their shitty "fun".

Protip: You're not having fun, it's a delusion your mind creates to hide the fact that you're shitposting for the satisfaction of your ego.

It's not possible to delude yourself into fun. Fun is just a state of mind, if you believe you're having fun, you are. What are you suggesting real fun is...?

Real fun is something you don't get by sitting in your mom's basement laughing at your own shitposts made on an "otaku" imageboard all day. Go outside and get a fucking life, then you might find out what real fun is.

I'm not talking about actually having fun. Shitposting is not fun, it is merely interpreted as fun by their subconscious. It's the same as playing cards, after just a little bit, you don't do it because it's fun, but to prevent mental sunk costs.

>>7972039
I really don't think people perceive their ironic shitposts as sunk costs.

Not defending shitposting, but if you believe there is a "real" and "fake" fun, you are fucking retarded and deserve to be laughed at.

They don't, if they did, they would stop doing it. The whole idea is that they don't realize it. If they were to permanently stop shitposting today and reflect on their actions, they would break down.

There really is no point in me trying to argue with you.
Neither of us can't convince the other and we'd be going in circles, using the same arguments until the thread disappears.
As amusing as that sounds, I have some other things to do today.

This kind of idea is what's really no fun.

Are /jp/ posters, recognizing the kind of mindset real shitposters have, not allowed to mock them by imitating them in an exaggerated fashion, sharing laughs with their fellow /jp/ers who understand the joke as a result? The argument that "once you acknowledge it's okay to shitpost you become a shitposter" is purely semantics and ignores the completely different mindset the ironic shitposters have. By assigning them the same word, you try to perform a sleight of hand and imply they have the exact same mindset.

See the image. Parody of the kind of mindset that creates this kind of image. That is what initially made these funny, although it's no longer funny when the original shitposters themselves use these kinds of images in earnest.

So yes, if you accept that argument as true, it does undermine the whole idea of parody and satire, like was pointed out. Sites like landoverbapist.com are no longer okay because posting as a pretend, over the top religious fundamental is supposedly acknowledging that extreme religious fundamentalism is okay.

/jp/ is horrible, even if you overlook its content (or lack thereof). Despite being one of the smaller, slower boards, it's consistently been one of the most time-consuming to moderate after /sp/. That most of its users are NEETs that spend all day bragging about how they shit on the floor and steal from their parents for money to buy figs doesn't help things either.

If you want to understand what /jp/ is like without having to spend a lot of time there: take the autism of Chris-chan and the butthurt of the Accelerator spammer and spread it across an entire board. Yeah. The only reason why that place hasn't been deleted is because moot, who hates it, is using it as a quarantine for /a/.

A lot of people are fucking bad at this and their ironic shitposting ends up looking exactly the same, and shit is shit regardless of the mindset of the person posting it.

>That is what initially made these funny, although it's no longer funny when the original shitposters themselves use these kinds of images in earnest.
The problem is that this always fucking happens because people are dumb as fuck.

Exactly how is their mindset different?

>That is what initially made these funny

Yeah, see? That's the internal flaw of this reasoning.

Let's think about it. Just why are they not funny anymore? Because people started thinking it's ok to use them legitimately. Thus, from ironic, they became legitimate shitposts.

Look at works that are parodies as a whole. You'll notice that they eventually become the norms and after their advent, you can never go back to the previous norm. Shitposting follows that logic, but it's bad, because, not only it drops the current quality of normal posting by becoming the norm, but you always need a new kind of shitpost to keep the flow going without falling into that sunk cost that will strike you with the fact that you've been doing all this for naught.

No, a single meme that is seldom used anymore isn't it, everything else is though, the spam, the offtopic, the "ironic", the shitposting is whats ruining boards.

That can't be helped. Even if they express it well enough so that you'd think it's an obvious parody, some people will still take it seriously. Or they just won't express it well enough in the first place. That is a problem with the entire class of humor, not shitposting in particular.

Well, if you want to turn this into a damning of parody as a whole, there's nothing I can do about that. I just wanted to make it clear that if you say it about shitposting, you have to say it about the whole thing.

>> No.7972126

>>7972102
Even if you can tell the difference between a ironic shitposter and a real retard, you can't always tell the difference between an ironic shitposter and a troll because both of them are out to make deliberately shitty posts.

Something can be an obvious parody of a shitty post and still be a shitty post in its own right. Just because a post has XDDDDDDDDDDs in it, which nobody actually would ever write, doesn't mean the post itself is not shit.

>> No.7972131

>>7972120
The real difference is that you don't have to look at stupid parodies of shit you don't care for, but you do have to look at all the stupid ironic shitposting that people come up with because it's right there in /jp/.

>> No.7972151

>>7972120
I'm not damning parody as a whole, I didn't say anything negative about it. I'm damning "ironic" shitposting, since it follows the same logic, but for the worse.
