I used to be like the OP. When I made threads like this I thought I was rallying the troops. Looking back on it I feel really embarrassed. All threads like this do is feed the spammer(s). Hey OP, try spamming a board one day to get into the mindset of a spammer. You'll see that the more people react to your spam the more you feel motivated to keep spamming. This isn't an /a/b/v/ conspiracy. (The people of those boards couldn't care less about /jp/.) There's at most a handful of bored users on /jp/ who're spamming because they know that /jp/ is the best board to get a reaction.

If you insist on trying to sculpt this board into something it (clearly) no longer is then change your approach. Frown upon bad posting etiquette by being someone with good posting etiquette. Do not, under any circumstances, try to point out the bad posting etiquette of a spammer. (Most internet trolls know right from wrong.) Complaining about them on the ghost board feeds them too.

Finally, if you really want to help the best thing you can do is report a thread and ignore it. You could also try contacting a moderator on IRC, you'd be surprised how well that works. One thing they do on pooshlmer during spam raids that seems to work is bump the good threads. The spammer wants his content to be on the main page. The wait time to create a new thread is longer than the wait time to bump a thread. Keep that in mind.

I soon learned that he was an Aikidoka and have been practicing Aikido ever since to show my thanks to him.
