I really like that Togame figure. The fact that they included both hairstyles is nice, as well. She's the first fig I've pre-ordered in a couple months, I think.

I'm hestitating whether I should buy this figure. It'd by my first 1/7 PVC since so far I've only collected stuff like figmas and nendoroids. Anyone who has it, anything wrong with it? I just really like it, but I'm hestitating since it's $60 (I'm 100% positive it's not a bootleg, a guy is selling his collection along with the boxes)

Both. The AI has new moves, and it uses most of the combos you can use, like the new backhop+counter move. It can also backstab you (i think). You need to plan your fights and know how to counter enemies.

Its very different from Demons Souls, especially combat, which is now more gritty and brutal, you get fewer invincibility frames in rolling, your exit from rolling attack has lag frames, pushlock is gone, all F+R1 does is push them back, iirc in Demons souls it could break guard or at least cancel attack animations, now it can't.

But yeah, alot of fun, alot of rage.

Anyone know how to achieve glossiness/flatness with Vallejo acrylics? I know that with Mr Color you use Flat base since just about every color is already glossy but you can also add Gloss clear to increase it. Does Vallejo have a counterpart flatnener and glosser? Thanks.

>> No.7923180 [DELETED]

>>7923152
Actually I think I have an idea of what I need, ie. in my local online store http://www.megahobby.com/vallejoacrylicpaintbottles17mlmodelcolor.aspx they have something called gloss medium, gloss varnish, Glaze Medium, Matte Varinsh, Matte Medium, Metallic Medium, Saten Varnish, and Crackle Medium. The rest is paints and retarder and thinner and stuff. However I'm not sure which ones I need to increase glossiness and increase flatness. I supposed Gloss Medium might be the glosser. I tried reading info on their website but it has pretty much the same descript on all of them. Well actually it looks like the varnishes add some gloss, so that's good. Still need to know which ones flatten the color though (or maybe they are all flat already, no clue never tried these). Haven't found a mixing guide that describes using these either, just color charts and mixing colors guide. If anyone knows feel free to correct me/update me on this.

Thanks again.

Ah I see, I see. It's like the opposite of Mr Color where the majority of the colors are gloss unless the bottle actually says flat. For Vallejo it seems only a few colors come in gloss. So then Gloss varnish would be my best bet for glossing up colors that are flat, right? Ah, no shops have Mr Color but they should have Vallejo. Ah screw it I'll just get a few bottles and mess around.

Thanks man.

I think they go by 3 rows of 4 (very small) individual boxes, although it's been a while since I've seen those anywhere. Dimensions would be something like slightly under a foot wide by slightly over a foot long.

I've had some surprisingly big boxes work as SAL before, so I think you'll be ok since I doubt those would trigger the SAL weight limit.

Realizing that getting all the GSC Puella Magi is easily half a grand of budget gobbled up is why I'm just getting the Madoka nendoroids instead.

I've long come to accept that I very much want nearly anything GSC or Alter put out.. having a long-standing acceptance of wanting everything they make kind of naturally evolves into a long-standing acceptance, that you just can't get them all. That is unless you're willing to blow many thousands hunting down out-of-print ones on Mandarake/YJA etc.

I suspect that I might not be able to resist GSC's eventual Mami and Kyouko figs, though.

>> No.7924056

Yeah, I may stand pat with just Madoka and Homuhomu.

Who am I kidding? I won't be able to resist Mami and Kyouko, either, and as long as I'm going that far, I might as well shell out the little extra for Sayaka and have the set.

I almost went for the nedoroids instead myself, but I couldn't pass frilly Madoka up. This is my first really big figure purchase (I've only got a couple right now), and though I kid about bankruptcy, I'll really just have to tighten my belt and forgo some other purchases I had been considering. $500 (with shipping that's probably about right) is a lot, but this is one of those things that I'll kick myself over if I miss the opportunity.

"somewhat" off? It's way off, it looks terrible just like most of the other Griffon Touhous. Basically that one sculptor they seem to use most often, Akio Akiyama, has a penchant for really fucking up the faces, by making them look too pinched and having just.. ugly mouths. Some of the other sculptors Griffon uses are actually alright.. i-con made their Suika, Keine and their original Remilia, who are coincidentally all some their only ones in the entire lineup.. but it seems i-con only gets used every once in a while and Akiyama is given free reign to ruin a bunch of Touhous.

It's like Akiyama's trying to go for a natural-looking lip appearance but with a way-less-than-natural looking width/shape, giving them a sort of micro-puckering appearance or something. This is precisely why many sculptors don't make the lips actually stick out much and make them a barely noticeable line.. that extra 3d structure shouldn't exist and looks wrong. Akiyama also seems to squish in the faces too much around the chin/jawiline.

The body is nice though and the wings have a very cool texture, so people will probably get it anyway just because it's Okuu despite it being so terribly flawed where it counts most (face). This is why I'm hoping Kotobukiya, ques Q and others give Griffon better competition.

I purchased a few things from hobbysearch, then saw something else after I finished ordering, so I ordered that too, thinking I could recombine them (all of these are currently in-stock, bargain items). However, it says they are not available to be recombined for some reason. So I decided to just cancel all the orders (I made these literally 20 minutes ago, and it's the middle of the night over there so I figure no way they're already processing it) but that leads me to a "page not found" error. Does this mean I can't cancel it? It doesn't say "cannot cancel", unlike my other pre-orders which explicitly state this.

Of the three main brands of "full size" strike witch figures, The Alter are by far the best in my collection. The Alter boxes also have the delightful Engrish text on their packaging:

>"The world had the attack from the existence of mystery that appeared suddenly. Only girls who have magic can fight them. They install arms in am own body, and fight in the sky, the land, and the sea. Fights of girls who defend the worlds starts now."

The Kotobukiya are decent, but the blue bases are indeed bad. The "amiami" branded ones are very nice when it comes to detail, but their scale is off slightly and their bases are far worse than Kotobukiya.

If the amiami Perrine had been a true 1/8 it would have been my favorite in the entire collection, but instead I have those 4 figures displayed elsewhere.

I am starting to switch to SAL for everything.

EMS gets to the Canadian border faster, but it is guaranteed to sit at customs for 5-10 business days. Back in 2008-2009 it wasn't this bad, but something changed.

SAL is still airmail so it arrives in Canada only 1-2 days slower than EMS. and then miraculously clears customs in no time at all. I cannot explain why. For this reason SAL is both quicker and cheaper for me.

>Did you ever receive a damaged product from SAL?

I buy several figures a month and all packages arrive in immaculate shape.

>> No.7930930

>>7930842
No, I've never received a damaged parcel using SAL, it's always been in perfect condition.
There's just as much chance of an EMS parcel getting damaged as a SAL one, I'm sure. It's just that I always go for uninsured when I order so I guess there's an element of risk in that.
But with the figures own packaging and the cardboard box it's sent in, you're gonna have a hard time damaging the figure or item itself.
In my opinion SAL is worth it for the money that it saves you.

>> No.7930957

>>7930932
>miraculously clears customs in no time at all
It's the same case in the UK, EMS is pretty much a guaranteed way to get charged import tax, but SAL goes straight past customs and no charges.
And due to the customs delay you'll end up with an EMS parcel arriving at a very similar time to a SAL parcel.
Maybe it's because they perhaps think things shipped using that method aren't going to be valuable so they don't waste their time sorting through them all for import duty, unlike EMS.

>> No.7930964

Personally, in Alberta

SAL = 7-14 days, weighted towards the 14 (typically in the 11-14 range)
EMS = 3-7 days, heavily weighted towards the 7 (typically in the 5-7 range)

Seriously if it's not here and it's been 13 days I can guarantee it will show up the next day.

I think I've had one shipping box with minor damage before but nothing that matters or affects the contents. The mail service in your area or country may be lazier and more retarded though. EMS isn't particularly better carried, it just has loading priority and is insured.

They did the exact same this to me. I bought Koishi, and two plushes and charged me something ridiculous (like 3500yen) when I'm used to spending 1000yen or less for much larger boxes/figures. Ask them to split the orders. Honestly, it's cheaper. I saved over 20$ by splitting the order on SAL. They arrived at the same time too.

Huh, I didn't expect these to get a proper photo preview.

I got the larger Disappearance ones from last month that have been showing up in a bunch of MFC front page pictures yesterday, and they're definitely rough around the edges (somewhat literally) and it doesn't help I got my first (glorious) 1/7 Alter fig at the same time to put them against they're pretty solid and look nice enough from a reasonable distance or in the right lighting, so considering their shortcomings would be relatively minimized on swimsuit sculpts-other than that towel, which is liable to be terrible-I think I'm pretty comfortable with still getting these.

I mean if it wasn't Haruhi and she didn't have so many outfits and hair styles I wouldn't be bothering though.

Anyways I guess it was Zunbar who talked me into getting dat Sankt Kaiser two and a half months ago, so I thank him. Quick Question: Normally I'd just use EMS, but I've had two packages in a row sitting at Canadian customs for over 14 days. I'm use to EMS which delivers straight to my house, I was curious what happens with SAL if you don't have a PO Box, do they just come to your house and ask you to sign? What if you're unavailable, will they just take it to the nearest Canada post office?

If you go by SAL always use registered, or at least that's my policy. It's only 500 extra yen or 5-10 bucks.

SAL is generally slower and there's no tracking, but it'll run you a good deal less unless it's over 2kg your order.

If so you might as well just go with EMS seeing as it's faster, tracking, insurance and what not. Unless your order is massive in which case you might want to consider SAL Parcel.

Honestly though just read the site's faq, they'll have most shipping info there.

Okay, thank you. I used SAL on HLJ, and the SAL was not registered. However, since the figures that I ordered aren't comparatively that expensive (because I liked how the figures looked and am testing it out before larger, higher quality ones), it wont be too much of a monetary loss if they do not arrive if shit happens. Time is not an issue to me, so my only reason to choose EMS would be to have the tracking.

I am just glad that I am not ordering something huge like the other time I ordered something from Japan. That order was a full Neo Geo AES system with a set of games and arcade stick controllers. The shipping cost for that was $120. And that was the lowest shipping cost available (by ship). Still, it was worth the obscene wait to get a Neo Geo AES for the price that I paid.

I'll probably be spending a bit more than I'd like to in the upcoming months though since I'm sure Fate/Zero and Carnival Phantasm will spawn more Type Moon figures which happen to be my favorites. Here in the UK it's 20% VAT on the total value of the package (value of items as declared + shipping cost), potentially customs duty of somewhere around 5-9% if you have a particularly huge order (never been hit by that though, so not sure what category figures would be put in, and what rate they'd be charged at; only applies to really huge shipments), plus the mail carriers charge a processing fee that varies depending on the shipment method (£13.50 for EMS, £8 for SAL).

Luckily SAL is very rarely hit for customs, and for me in London usually arrives in two weeks or so (which is comparable or even better than EMS if it gets caught in customs, as they like to sit on it for a week, then the bullshit process that Parcelforce require for payment of fees adds another couple of days to the delivery).

I only ever use EMS for stuff that's too large for SAL (and from places that don't offer SAL parcel), or if it's something from a proxy service or whatever who're willing to mark down the value and claim it's a gift.

Also, the stories I hear from the US/Canada about SAL parcels just being left on your doorstep fucking terrify me. Here, if they can't safely deliver a package (ie, too big to fit through the letterbox, and no-one in to recieve it), they'll take it back to the local mail depot and leave you a note so you can either go pick it up later, or arrange a re-delivery, even if it's not one that requires a signature.

Another polfag here. I always use registered SAL, almost always it takes exactly one week for my packages to arrive (might be that fast because I live in the city where we have an airport). No taxes for me, even for packages that had a value around 10k yen. Used EMS only once, arrived in 3 days, no customs, value around 6,5k. And it had the sal sticker on it. I don't get why.

Warszawa? Also takes about 7-10 days here.
And yeah, I always used SAL unregistered, but the no order delivery confirmation and signature thing kinda put me off. Well, I already placed the order - now the worst part comes - THE WAIT.

It takes around 2 weeks to get items via SAL in Warszawa from my experience. He might have gotten lucky though.

Yup, the only thing making the deliveries slower is my lazy as fuck postman, he won't bring me the package, only a notice.
>>7934936
Strange. I waited a long time only when I ordered things around 20th December, got my notice around 10th January. Maybe my post office is a little faster, dunno about that.

There's a fig I've been looking for; this one here:
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/28891_so_ra_no_wo_to_kannagi_noel_furyu

No matter where I look, the Noel figs seem to all be sold out.
Does anyone have any smart ideas on where I could get hold of this? I'm willing to dish out a decent amount of money.

Searching in moon greatly improves Mandarake results. Now if only they didn't have 3 alphabets to pick from. ソラノヲト is the correct title.

I think I got pic related and Kanata on a box for chump change, now if only I could find Rio.

I'll try to remember that.

I've also got the rightstuf Sora no Woto boxset, which is probably one of my favorite purchases.
The Noel fig is the one I really want, although I'll probably try and get the other ones eventually.

Should I stick with this, or are there anymore Remilia figures due soon?

>> No.7935638

>>7935597

Griffon is making another Remi fig that looks pretty good. You might want to wait until it's colored to decide which one you like more. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/83127_touhou_project_remilia_scarlet_1_8_curiosities_of_
Other than that, Kotobukiya has made Marisa, Reimu and Aya so they might do Remi too. Someday.
