The only experience I have of this series is through the games. I'm ambivalent about PE1 and PE2. There were some improvements in PE2 but at the same time I felt they took a step back on many things, particularly the storyline. 3rd Birthday is just...I don't even know. It's just Squeenix.

btw I remember seeing an old PE promo video. Melissa was singing on stage, a man wearing a suit in the back stage was holding his head in pain and a bright white light was splitting out of his skull. I never found the vid when looked for it. Did anyone else remember seeing this?

Yes the original novel is translated and can be found in stores. It's called Parasite Eve and if I recall it was a big hardcover with an eyeball on it.

PE1 was damn good. 2 was good and bad, improved on some things, fucked up some things. 3rd Birthday was fucking ridiculous, Aya got the Samus Other M, vulnerable little girl treatment, to say nothing of the gameplay.

Book is indeed the best though, but then again, books typically do trump other forms of media.
