An object within a container traveling at the same speed as its container has similar inertia to the container. The air within the elevator is traveling at the same speed as the elevator. You are traveling at the same speed as the elevator. You cannot jump with enough force to cancel out your inertia. If you did, you would end up in the ceiling of the elevator.

If you canceled your inertia at the same rate as the impact the elevator has with the bottom of the shaft, it would be the same as hitting the bottom: a sudden and massive deceleration over a short time.
