This thread is bound to become an audiophile shitfest anyways, but the point of putting those headphones in the shows isn't about the quality of sound, it's just to show they have enough money to spend on those things or that they care about music enough to spend money on things like that.

well they are headsets designed for Professionals. soundtechs, musicians etc, who need to hear crystal clear playback. and their capacity is wasted if used by those "immature tweens" playing low quality pirated music.

>> No.7901760

Headphones can't provide better sound than the source.
It also can't provide better sound than the hardware it is connected to can dish out.

So, to benefit from your headphones to their full potential, you need all sound to have been recorded lossless.
You also need a player that can deal with this lossless music in realtime with no information loss.

All taken into account, headphones over $100 are rarely even relevant.

Might also be worth noting for all you older ones, or those more weary. That if you don't have the ears of an above average baby, the top/upper class headphones are completely redundant no matter who you are. You don't need a headphone that can provide sound that isn't relevant for a human.

After $100-$250 almost no pair of headphones really does anything. And the majority of those barely even have anything to go for them for most people.

That argument works for comparing audio cables, which are all about the same actually and are famous for being a rip-off market.

Some audio manufacturers, such as Bose also charge literally 10x what their (horrible bottom end) equipment is worth, and fool people in Best Buy into buying their shit, because Bose is all about mass marketing and such.. Best Buy simply won't stock the good stuff out on store floors that anus annihilates Bose, because of behind-the-scenes arrangements with companies like Bose.. even if the store actually stocks some good stuff, they won't put it out for display on the store floor due to favoring certain companies. Seriously.

So, if you never researched audio stuff, and just listened to what they had at BB or Circuit City or whatever, that's probably why you couldn't hear a difference.. Even if the store stocks good stuff, they likely wouldn't put it out for display on the store floor unless it was an authentic audio store (which would definitely not be Best Buy). Lastly floor models are old/beat up sometimes and thus sound shitty.

Headphones are different from the usual audio gear scams though. Even a low-mid-grade type pair sounds massively different than some ipod ear buds or Walkman headphones. You don't have to spend like $600+ or whatever, but, even a $100-200 pair should make a revolutionary difference over bottom-end stuff. If you seriously like and appreciate music, you -should- have at least a decent pair of cans.

The entire goal of a store is to make profit, and as such will advertise Bose to get more money(commission) or workable hours/bonus(non-commission).

Let's put it this way. Your going to buy a 1K sound system. I can tell you to buy the one that makes ME $500 or the one that makes me $100.
