Owning a sword of any kind is either illegal, restricted or something you need a permit or museum bona-fides for.
You can't just pay the fantasy-swords catalog guys $200bux and get your authentic people-cutter in the mail, there's more to it than that. And yes, foreignfags, that's true in the U.S. as well. The difference is that the Mongols could fire while moving thanks to their nifty compound bows. Japanese mounted archers basically used horses as faster transport to firing positions, nothing more. This is a pretty big deal, and I'd argue that it's the one of the primary reasons the Mongols were so successful. The other is the lack of supply lines thanks to their nomadic nature - something that doomed every Japanese attempt at conquest in mainland Asia until the late 19th century.
