>Yukari Yakumo believes that herself, Yuyuko Saigyouji and Reimu Hakurei to be together "no match for" the Yama.

I've heard this relates to her lectures, or does it actually mean she could beat those three in a fight?

>> No.7890577

>>7890554
It means that none of them could possibly defeat the Yamaxanadu in an actual fight.

You know, with her being the High Judge from Hell, you must have an impressive power to discipline anyone who objects to your judgment.

She is armless against the power of boobs. Yukari and Yuyuko will then pown her without any problem while Reimu will be pimpin with Komachi.

>> No.7892256

Probably true. She's the judge of the dead, she has to be strong in a fight or else she'd have no authority. Or you could take it as another one of Yukari's moon plans so that no one messes with hell.

>> No.7892427

It's a very vague statement. They just feel Shikieiki approaching, and Yukari suggests to leave because they shouldn't oppose her or disobey her. You could take this to mean that they're no match in a fight, but the more probable answers is that for one, you don't want to stay around for her to lecture you; and two, you don't want to defy the person who has ultimate control over your afterlife. Yukari isn't immortal, Reimu is simply human and Yuyuko runs the Netherworld essentially by order of the Yama. You don't want to get in her way.

>> No.7892445

I take it to mean that she has phenomenal cosmic power, if not great personal power.

Say, even if you kill her, the Shinigami who shows up to take her soul would probably exact immediate revenge for the offense to the Yama. And she'd probably get free revives for being a Yama at all.

Yuuka Instantly wins, though.

Is there a lunar yama too, or do they go to the gensokyo netherworld when they die?

I mean, there are stars in the gensokyo skies, which means that there are other planets scattered in other star systems. Do whatever creatures that die across the milky way go to the netherworld near Gensokyo too? That's quite some distance to travel. The Touhou universe is so small.

There's probably a few Yamas for Earth, and one for the moon and Makai.

The Moon is much larger than what earthlings know of it, apparently, as the "real" moon can't even be seen from Earth. (What we see is the moon reflecting in the "heavens", according to Suika. Seeing the real moon is death.)

>> No.7892554

I like the explanation that after death, you're pretty much at her mercy, but then it's said that a sufficiently strong individual could do whatever they pleased, so whatever.

I like the idea of a Yama around some pale Red dwarf planet on Andromeda's rim, where the leaves are black and the day never ends, grumpy that she ended up judging the ass-end of nowhere.

But then we went and landed on it. Sure showed them.

She is canonically a being with the hability to dictate sentences aganist anyone, anywhen, anwhere.

If her power are as strong as they are portrayed she would only need a few words to destroy anyone despite his power or nature, she is only hold back by the code of the yama and the spell card rules of Gensokyo.

Yeah, but according to Reisen, that was some sort of tactical insertion first-strike operation. Or something.

And then Eirin blew up Apollo 13.

And then, Apollo 13.

I like the idea of the Lunarians cloaking or otherwise hiding the moonscape the Americans flew over and landed on. Then, with Apollo 13 the Lunarians decided that this time, the Americans' particular route would be too much trouble to camouflage, so they said, "fuck it," and blew up the service module.

Point is, we went there and we proved it was a real, physical, solid thing. Now we just need to penetrate whatever bullshit cloaking field they have and it's checkmate for magic.

It's funny, because if it weren't for Reimu and/or everyone else in Imperishable Night, Eirin would have sealed Earth away for good with magic.

Apollo 13 still passed the moon as usual, they just didn't do an orbital insertion or land. ZUN hasn't been studying his spaceflight.

Well, when it was discovered the astronauts were still alive and might conceivably make it back to Earth, the lunar surface was camouflaged just well enough to dissuade suspicions from a fly-over, without the actual effort it would take to fool a landing party.
