Kigurumi (着ぐるみ) is a kind of cosplay where the player wears a full body skin suit (called a zentai or hadatai) along with an anime mask.

The Japanese word "kigurumi" refers to any kind of full-body costume, but in this thread we're specifically looking for anime masks combined with skin-toned bodysuits - properly known as "animegao" kigurumi.

Why? Well, they're like giant anime figurines. Or, like cosplay ascended to the next logical level. I think it's really cool to cosplay in a way that really makes you look like the character. It also involves a lot of stuff like suit acting, use of body language and trying to portray a character with minimal tools available, and that interests me as a performing art.

...What? Expand on this. Are you confused about my "next logical level" statement? What I mean is that normal cosplay is an approximation of the character, as though they were a real person. Kigurumi style cosplay takes that character in a more "mascot" form. Zentai is worn to create smooth, even-toned skin, and a mask is worn to simulate the anime-style facial features of the character. Better masks represent the character more closely. My favorite are the kind that are created specifically for one character rather than made from a base. It's like the difference between someone cosplaying Mario, or someone going for a full, cartoon-style likeness and wearing something akin to a Disney world costume. Anime characters are cartoons, after all.

Seriously, just search eBay for like "pvc cosplay", "pvc gothic lolita", there's tons of ships that will ship worldwide and take custom orders (usually very crossdresser-friendly). Mediocre quality, but reasonably priced. Use the money you save to buy a decent hadatai, which is way more important.

It really depends. Obviously for fetish-and-nothing-else scenes, like many of the FC2 videos, PVC is most appropriate. But even some cosplay looks good/better in PVC - like this, I think, looks fine, as does Nyoro's black PVC maid dress - and sometimes, like the Card Captor Sakura rubber dress, or a Celty outfit - it's also the accurate way.

Also if you're the one wearing it, or fucking someone wearing it - PVC or latex all the way.

More good PVC cosplay. The muted red helps; the contrast with the wig helps; it's in good condition too. If you don't take care of PVC it degrades fast and really starts looking cheap.
