You find yourself in Gensokyo, in the driver's seat of your trusty Saturn SL2. You have a full tank of gas, but no way to obtain more once you run that dry. All but the most curious or desperately violent youkai will avoid you and your strange conveyance, for a time. You can travel anywhere with a suitably wide footpath.

How do you proceed?

I stop examining the situation and kill myself.

That's for pussies. If you want to learn to drive, first you have to learn to drive a normal car with a normal transmission. Come on, it's not so hard. Step on the clutch, gear 1, release the clutch slowly while stepping the gas (slowly if you drive trough street, or to the limit if you drive GTA style). Then release the clutch. Wait for 25000-3000 rpm in street (or your rpm limit for GTA style), then release the gas, step on the clutch and switch to 2nd gear. Release the clutch and step on the gas. Repeat until desired speed (or max speed). It's not so hard...

Also, whoever needs help with this, ask /o/. They might be willing to help a noob driver.

Confirmed for new manual driver and/or troglodyte neckbeard. It's a fucking Saturn. Who cares what kind of transmission it has?

I drive an automatic as I see a car as a means of getting from point A to point B, rather than a widget to be tinkered with.

After driving manual transmission for years, I hate the lag of an automatic car downshifting to accelerate while already moving.

For normal use, yes. It is. But come on, everyone likes a little bit of speed some often. At least, where it is possible to speed up a bit.

Personally, I prefer street cars with no (visual) tunning. I'd love to have an Audi or a BMW, rather than a tunned RX7, even if this one beats those in performance.

Okay now i'm interested in this thread.

Well, Patchouli could probably make it run on magic, so I'd try to find some way to get it to the SDM.
Most likely course of action would be to drive to the closest point on the Misty Lake's shoreline, and lean on the horn until Remilia gets annoyed and sends Sakuya to shut me up.
Failing that, Hakurei shrine gets a deity. BEHOLD. HEADLIGHTS.
Charging the battery would be a bitch, though. I could probably whack together a dynamo, if Rinnosuke doesn't have one. Dunno where I'd get magnets from, though, if not Rinnosuke again.

Only if you learn to drive a normal transmission, you learn to drive. You can drive automatic, yes, but it's not the same. You leave everything to your car, and in the end, is the car who almostr drive for you, instead of you driving it.

A car is like an animal. You must tame it first, and you must NEVER let him do anything in his own.
