How would you react if someone told you they've never drank, smoke, or tried any drugs in their life?

Would you view them as proud or naive?

>> No.7851029

I'd view them as fucking nuts. Because it's me, talking to myself.

It means they're a dull, unimaginative person with a lack of curiosity.

They don't get into any big trouble in their life, but they won't have any exciting adventures either.

It depends, doesn't it?
If I were a skydiver and somebody said "Oh cool, I've never gotten around to skydiving myself, but I'm glad you enjoy it" then it'd all be good, but if somebody said "fucking idiot jumping out of planes I'd never do that one day your parachute won't open and I'll laugh" then I'd think he or she was a jackass.

I wouldn't completely know what they are like.

But I would know they do not give in to peer pressure or try to be a cool kid who thinks such things give them 'experience' or street creds. In short, they stick to their own shit and are not malleable.

How do you manage what you don't have?

Well, that's a slight lie, I get depressed when I get harassed by my mom who threatens to get me sent to an asylum if I don't pony up cash from my e-job every so often. Eroges help put me back on the right track in that case.

I've tried drugs and alcohol, and actually do drink and get drunk on the weekends with friends.

Not because of peer pressure though, I just thought, before I write something off as awful or terrible, I should at least try it. Because I hate when people assume something is awful or what-have-you because of the stigma associated with it, like how people view my hobbies.

And I don't want to be like those people.

Depends. If they do it because they chose to do so then admire their willpower. If they want to but are just too scared then I'd feel sad for them.

I smoked weed when I was younger (20-21) and I drink and smoke. I've tried coke and speed/gas once and DMT.

My only friend at the time was a cannabis dealer so he'd set me up and I'd be good for a week.

Drugs aren't as good as drug users like to make out. Weed doesn't make things funnier when you use it frequently. You're just relaxed and content and feel intoxicated. Coke lasts 30 minutes and makes you feel awake and confident. Speed makes you just feel very awake.

Meh, meh, meh. DMT on the other hand is the secret an hidden portal to Gensokyo and is the perfect NEET drug pretty much.

> never drank
That'd be rare in today's society. Not even tried once?
> never smoked
That'd be a smart thing to do after reviewing the cost/benefit ratio, but "Not even tried once?"
> never tried any drugs
I'd figure they are not interested in finding out what unique mental/conscious states they can have. I'd say they were either not curious or overly cautious, or just easily swayed by propaganda (instead of doing actual research into exactly what a drug does to your body and brain).
It seems to be a status symbol for some people. While I don't do drugs, I would have no problem doing anything in a controlled environment and which I was highly confident (based on current evidence) that I would not come to harm. I would even be interested in what unique qualia I could have that cannot be experienced normally. Drugs are not doing what you brain lacks functionality for, they are merely changing various things temporarily in a global fashion (most drug "delivery" systems suck today, they cannot be targetted to very specific brain areas, like your own brain does naturally, not only that they can have side-effects when the substance has dual use in the body(ever wondered why heroin addicts tend to have high mortality rates? It's not as much as that their death is inevitable (if there was proper supervision), but that the drug has many usages which lead to side-effects which if not controlled can lead to death)).

>Would you view them as proud or naive?
Neither, one, the other or both, depending on the person's motivations. There are perfectly fine reasons for either behavior, but it's not possible to say anything without knowing more about the person.
